Just like any scheme. If you don't have the right level of talent or correct personnel you're doomed to fail. That's why successful teams like New England have had a respectable or sound defense for years under Bill Belicheck's coaching and decision making. Seattle makes the system and scheme look good because they have the right level of talent and correct personnel to make it do so. 

 

Nothing more, nothing less. Naturally, the easiest fix would be to change your coaching style and scheme to fit the players you DO have. But a coach that starts bending or changing his philosophy will quickly lose the team's focus and and his leadership will be brought into question. With Caldwell's recent comments about Bradley's first two or three years basically being mulligans in his eyes. It's safe to assume he wanted Bradley to stay true to his voice and his beliefs on the defensive side of the football. Caldwell went out and invested top choices and top dollar to get the personnel now that should work in Bradley's scheme.
