Bosa's play is not to actually end up re-entering the draft, but to hold San Diego's feet to the fire by threatening it and have them cave on their contract demands.

 

At that point, they're better off losing the pick and taking their one year lump.

 

Better than signing someone who doesn't want to be there, won't be motivated to achieve, and be married to that for years.

 

I don't necessarily agree with either side's unwillingness to come together - but if the relationship is damaged the Chargers have the advantage and should stand put, be willing to cut bait.
