They should have used the term Optional because they will still get paid and have the same rights as they do as a policeman on duty, but ultimately it is there decision whether they want to work that event.  Most usually do because that represents extra income which is needed due to the low wages of a police officer.  I side with the police on supporting any event or whether they want to defer that option. 

 

Question:  Why does the title state they will "boycott" if indeed the services are "voluntary" as stated within the article.   Terrible journalism as usual.
