I was mortified reading the underlined portions of this quote.  I understand that teams will scout their own tendencies and change up their approaches from time to time.  But the quote makes me question the kind of preparation the team is getting.

Eh. With a shifting rotation at DB - Gratz was an afterthought at nickel. I don't find it crazy that they called an uncommon zone (for this defense) and he hadn't seen it much (or at all.)  

It's certainly not ideal and smacks of unpreparedness, but I can see where that could happen with a back-up player not playing his first position.
