Now if we circle to renewable energy...  Wouldn't the same effect that we have with farm subsidies work for helping prop up an emerging industry here in the USA?  I mean, think if we actually did put solor panels in all the southwest and other high sunshine areas.  Why not make this investment?  

 

That is the thing, we did make an investment and it failed. We also currently have solar panels plastered all over Arizona and the Mojave. The technology isn't there yet and the demand isn't there yet. It is too expensive and too ineffective. Maybe throwing even MORE money at groups like Solyndra will speed up technological development, but history has shown otherwise. Personally, I feel nuclear is the right path forward, but neither candidate wants to make a big point of it (for public perception reasons). It is both clean and highly efficient. At least Trump has included it in his inclusive energy desire.
