<div>I agree with OP and want Manziel, simply because I don't want to 'settle' for a quarterback anymore in this town. I want to say confidently that we drafted the very best quarterback prospect possible, in fact the best we can even imagine at this time. That there is literally nobody else in the world of football that we would want instead, even if we could get him. And I want this because I've watched multiple teams in the NFL experience this over the last few years, while us Jaguars always settle(think Blaine Gabbert)
 
Case in point: when the Rams drafted Sam Bradford a few years back, you could just tell in their fans eyes, there was no other quarterback in the world that they wanted or would trade him for. Keep in mind, Cam Newton wasn't even a passing-thought in their minds, and Bradford the current heisman winner was considered the best young prospect anywhere. 
And then when Carolina comes along and drafts their own franchise guy Cam Newton, And I again saw the same phenomenon at work. Newton was literally the very best young quarterback prospect their franchise could even imagine. In fact he was labeled the best ever by some. For remember, during that year, guys like Luck and RG3 hadn't made a name for themselves yet. 
And of course this same trend repeated itself once again 2-years ago with both Luck and RG3. There was no 'settling' with Washington or Colts. There was no other player in the world, and none playing currently in college football they could have wanted more.
 
Enter Jaguars 2014 draft then, and we are in a terrible position. Because while we're prolly going to have a high pick and a need for a franchise guy. I fear some of my brothers on this board are going to 'settle' once again, as always. And I'll prove it with a simple question:
To everyone who want Jaguars to draft Bridgewater, Bortles, Carr, or other qbs like Mccarron, Boyd, etc. with out first pick, I want you to answer this hypothetical question as honestly as you possibly can. If the college rules were changed and current heisman winner 'Jameis Winston' could come out THIS year. Would you still take Bridgewater over Winston? Would you take Bortles over Winston? You wouldn't would you? Of course you wouldn't, none of you would. 
And so that's where we are. In a terrible twist of fate, where we have to admit that us Jaguars may once again be 'settling' for the Bridgewaters, Carrs, etc, only because by NCAA rules, we can't get our grubby hands on 'Winston'(much like we got Gabbert that one year simply because we weren't high enough on the draft board to get Newton).
 
And perhaps us Jaguar fans will only recognize when it's too late, only in hindsight, when we see some rival like Houston pick up Winston next year and we hate ourselves for settling once again.
No, not this time. I want to be the talk of the town this tiime. I want to be the most exciting pick on draft day that everybody talks about this year. I want our Johnny to be on the front of sport illustrated in his shiny new Jaguars uniform. I want Jaguars to become one of the most watched teams in the entire NFL. I want the number 2 Jaguars jersey to be the highest selling in the world(much like RG3 and others). I want Jaguars tickets to be the hottest in town, and regularly see the likes of Lebron James in the stands. I want Manziel, because this is our chance. Our chance to be the team that every other team is jealous of. Rams stole their fanchise guy in heisman winning Bradford who broke all kinds of records and went to the championship game. Carolina, Washington, and colts did too. And of course whoever gets Winston next year. 
And then there's us, right in the middle. And who are we going to get? The AAC qb Bridgewater, who was never even invited to sit on a heisman board? Bortles or Carr? The type of qbs you can find in every single draft every single year? I don't want to settle. I've settled ever since post-Brunnell. I want the guy who Gus Malzhan compared only to his own Cam Newton. The guy who Bob Stoops said was the best quarterback the Sooners have faced in his 14 years as coach. I want the only quarterback Nick Saban has nightmares of. The most talked about, exciting, and record-breaking quarterback in a long long time.
 
I don't want to covet whoever gets Winston next year, wishing we could have got him this year. I want to get the only guy in the draft this year who truly stands shoulder to shoulder with the likes of Winston, RG3, Luck, Newton, and Bradford. The choice is easy Jaguars fan. No more settling for us. The OP is right, It is time indeed! Bring Johnny [BAD WORD REMOVED] Football to Jacksonville!
 
(author's edit: I think we all agree that whoever Jaguars get, we'll always be Jag fans. And I don't write this to grate anyone, so take it all in stride please. I only write to make you think of the possibilities. Let's be proud Jaguars fans. We deserve the best, we deserve a draft pick that people will still be talking about 5-years from now. We've been loyal fans to this franchise through the good and the bad. And we deserve this.)
