D'Onta Foreman to enter 2017 NFL Draft
|
Quote:Look at any scouting report on the kid. He's considered one of the top pass blockers in the NCAA at his position. As for receiving, that's all scheming. If he's not targeted in the passing game, how is he supposed to feature that skill set? There have been a ton of premier rushers in the NFL who were not known for being much of a receiver in college, because they weren't targeted. Once they were given that chance in the pros, they thrived. Right now, that is an unknown part of his game, because he hasn't been given a chance. All I can say, is that his twin brother plays WR for the Longhorns, so his brother has the genes to be a decent receiver. I see no reason why D'Onta wouldn't inherit at least some of that particular skill set. From what I've seen, his pass-blocking basically amounts to looking around for a second and then standing next to a lineman already blocking someone leaving either the edge or the middle open(but this a small sample size from two games on Draft Breakdown). I'll wait for more of his games to get posted before going one way or the other on this. He does throw a pretty good cut block, though With receiving, unless he actually does it, you can't automatically assume he's good at it. He does fine catching pitches from what I've seen, but that's a far cry from having to make catches out in space or over the middle, so yeah, no calling him a "complete back" until he shows he can do it. His brother being a receiver is very much irrelevant to how good a receiver D'Onta might be. |
