Max Olsen, ESPN Staff Writer: AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas running back D'Onta Foreman has signed with an agent and will enter the NFL draft after leading the nation in rushing with 2,028 yards this season.Foreman, a junior, surpassed 100 rushing yards in each of his past 13 games at Texas and became the second 2,000-yard rusher in school history, joining Ricky Williams. He announced his decision to go pro on Wednesday.

Foreman is ranked No. 18 among Todd McShay's top 32 NFL draft prospects and No. 3 among running back prospects behind LSU's Leonard Fournette and Florida State's Dalvin Cook.

Foreman has received early feedback that he could be a late-first- or second-round pick, a source close to Foreman told ESPN. He signed with Select Sports Group on Tuesday.

Texas finished 5-7 this season and fired coach Charlie Strong on Saturday. Foreman had said Strong's departure would be a factor in his decision. New Texas coach Tom Herman met with Foreman this week and supported his decision, according to the source.

Foreman, a finalist for the Doak Walker Award, which honors the nation's top running back, rushed for his 2,028 yards in only 11 games and scored 15 touchdowns.

He's my RB1 for dynasty rookie RBs. Slightly less overall talented than LF and Cook perhaps, but their injury concerns are scary.

Don't think the Jags will have to worry about him though he should go comfortably inbetween our 1st and 2nd rounders. Wouldn't complement Ivory very well either if he did drop to the early 2nd.

I wouldn't want him to compliment Ivory. I want him to replace Ivory and Yeldon.

Who's the last running back we have had with Samuels skillset and home run threat?

If D'Onta Foreman is so great, then why did Texas sucked the whole time he was there. Pass.

Samuels is not an "in between the tackles" type of runner. He's less than 200 lbs. and he's all about trying to "bounce it outside". I view him as purely a 3rd down back. I want someone with power who can also hit the "home run" as well. I don't want to go back and forth between 2 RB's. I want one primary runner who can do it all.

You're blaming Texas' woes on one RB? You can't possibly be that ignorant? Their defense is atrocious and their QB play is terrible. They had one of the best rushing offenses in the NCAA, but if the rest of the team sucks, the team as a whole is gonna suffer. It's common sense.

You're comment makes no sense. It's like saying, if our punter is so good, why have the Jags been so bad? One player cannot carry an entire team, no matter how good they are.

We already have a between the tackles guy in Ivory. Why not diversify the offense with a home run threat at RB who can also split out wide and catch like a WR.

AP, Eric Dickerson, Bo Jackson rose up to the occasion and carried their team to good records. You got players like Leonard Fournette who are overhyped that disappear in big games in primetime. Foreman led the league in rushing on a bad team, must have been garbage time rushing yards, rushing td stats.

Why would a team be rushing in garbage time if they are losing? lol

Why not get a guy who can do both? Samuels is a home run threat, but he's not great at getting the tough 3-4 yard runs up the middle. He just lacks the size and strength. Ivory can get the tough 3-4 yard runs on occasion, but he couldn't break a long run if there was only one defender on the field. He just lacks the speed and burst. I don't see why we'd want multiple backs with flaws in their game. Why not try and get an every down runner with both skill sets? I've just never been a fan of teams with a rotating backfield.

You're being ridiculous! Peterson, Dickerson and Jackson were not on "bad" teams at all. They may not have been on great teams, but they were far from being bad. Texas is a legitimately bad team. One aspect of an offense cannot overcome the flaws of the the rest of the team. Your argument makes no sense. Opposing teams knew Texas had no passing game, so they stacked the box and Foreman was still able to touch them.

Thank you. I think Jagsfan32277 is just trying to troll at this point.

Don't want to spend a 2nd round pick on a running back. Samuel might be able to be had in the 3rd or 4th. Also not sure Foreman will break big runs at the next level.

I don't care if we have to spend a 1st round pick on a RB, as long as we get someone who turns us around from being a one dimensional offense. If teams know we have a run game and have to prepare as such, the pressure on the passing game to carry the load will be relieved. I think we'd see much more of a balanced, productive offense with a much better ground game. I don't want to take guys like Samuels, who might "contribute". I want to go big and try to draft a star at RB, who opposing teams will truly have to game plan for. As for not being sure if Foreman will break runs in the NFL, the same can be said for Samuels. We just don't know until we see them play on the next level. That can be said for any rookie, at any position. All you can judge them on is past performances and Foreman has consistently broken big runs in college and has 100+ yard rushing games in every contest this past season. That's as consistent as you can get.

Even looking at the long runs, Samuels has a long run of 74 yards, but his next longest run dips clear down to 36 yards in 2016. Foreman has a long run of 74 yards as well, but he also has big runs of 62 yards, 47 yards, 44 yards and 40 yards as well in other games this past season. If you want to go with odds, Foreman seems like more of a sure thing.

Not only do I expect stardom for Foreman, I genuinely believe he is the safest pick in the draft.

I would love to have him but I don't see him being available to us where the value matches.

Lol you care to give me an in depth breakdown of AP, Eric Dickerson, and Bo Jacksons college teams so we can get an apt comparison on them carrying their teams singlehandedly.
