Blake Bortles: 2016 is "the worst nightmare possible."
|
Quote:"Hitting him in the hands" isn't the definition for a drop. Neither of the two plays you are talking about were classified as drops. One he was having to make a sideline dive and the other he was fighting through an elite CB to try to catch the pass on the other side of the CBs body. Yes they both hit his hands and he has the capability of making great catches on both, but they aren't drops. Even if it is not technically a drop on the stat sheet the pass should have been caught. What made Allen Robinson so great last year was his ability to beat CBs by jumping and fighting for the ball in tight coverage. Every time I saw Marqise Lee drop a ball in single coverage, I thought, "Robinson would have caught that one," because he did catch it so many times last year. Hurns is a good body catcher. One of my favorite catches he made in his career was during Blake Bortles' first start. Unable to stay upright, Hurns bobbled the ball toward his body as he fell backward to make the catch when he landed on his back. It was a show of great concentration. When you see stuff like that, you should not look at a bobble drop and blame the QB for throwing an errant pass, because the receiver can catch a less-than perfect pass. |
