Coaches eyes are lighting up with the talent level on defense we have. Pass rush has two rookie edge rushers, so of course our pass rush isnt great. He also hit on a 3rd rd pick in Ngakoue who is near the top of defensive rookies in pressures and sacks.


Beasley had 4 sacks last season. To say Fowler is definitely a bust after one season when hes coming off an ACL and this is his first season plauing edge is insane. He meeds to get better, no doubt about it. Im not sold he will be what we expected. But its too early.


Look at Dee Ford in KC. He looked terrible sitting behind two veteran pass rushrrs when hed come in for KC. Now he has double digit sacks year 3.

 

sure you can find some examples of rookies who don't do much who eventually figure things out.  

 

for every dee ford and vic beasley, I can find you 100x more rookie pass rushers who suck that continue to suck.

 

what makes you think Fowler will turn it around besides just HOPING he will?  I have zero indications he will.  I think the best chance for him to succeed is having a different style of defense.  Maybe changing positions could help him.

 

We haven't even seen Fowler flash nearly ANYTHING.  Think about how many times he has rushed the passer and how many times he's beaten his guy across from him.  You can probably count on one hand how many times he's done that.  

 

So, as it stands - it's a miss.  I am happy to change my mind and give credit to Dave if Dante turns out to be a stud. As it stands now - he's far from that.
