Why should the federal government put tax payer dollars into public schools and not a voucher?  Because public schools will have to conform to standards set by the government.  While Private schools won't and shouldn't.  Private schools can turn students down for any reason--and they should be allowed to (so long as they receive no tax dollars).  Public schools can't, and shouldn't.   In fact public schools must accept all students, and have by far the strictest requirements for expulsion.

 

Simply put though: Public Schools are Public.  Private schools are Private.  I don't think the government should fund any private institutions.  Be they school, health insurance (which is why I'm personally against the ACA, and prefer a single-payer system), or anything else.  


If you open up the private schools to government funding, you also open them up to government intervention.  I'm sure that you would be against that given how much you detest the public education system.  

 

The part in bold is the problem.  Where is it said in The Constitution that government is responsible for education?  Who decides the "standards set by the government"?

 

The fact of the matter is, the federal government has no business being involved in education to begin with.  My federal tax dollars should not go towards the funding of teacher's unions and the indoctrination of students.
