It's not just the Alabama game. It's an issue with his game - albeit a fairly minor one.

 

 I can't speak for the points anyone else is trying to make -- but my only point is that "he struggles when met in the backfield by a defender" and that's going to happen in the NFL more than it did at LSU unless he's behind one of the better NFL offensive lines.  

 

Behind the Jags' current O-Line I believe he'd basically be a younger, healthier Ivory with better top-end speed. Which is still pretty damn good. He'd still hit some home-runs and he'd make a positive impact for the offense, but we'd see him tripped up by plenty of shoelace tackles near the L.O.S. and that would disappoint some folks that don't recognize this minor flaw in his game. 

 

I don't think it's that big of a deal. He's a top ten prospect regardless of this little knock on him.  But the fact remains, he runs pretty upright out of the gate and it allows him to be tripped up easily if he hasn't built momentum yet. So, he's not a "perfect" prospect, but he's pretty close to it.  Smart NFL coaches will work with him on getting lower at the line. It's not like he can't get better.    

 

It's a trade-off.  Do you want a guy with better ability to improvise away from early contact?  Are you willing to turn down Fournette's top-gear speed and remarkable power downfield to take a guy with more initial wiggle?  

 

People will naturally fall on different sides of the fence on this one.
