All he's saying is don't give up on talent too soon, just like Pittsburgh didn't with him (but almost did.)

 

He's said nothing about his style of play or "throwback" being the reason he liked him.  There's certainly nothing "throwback" about Bortles.

 

Between you and glock you could write an entire fiction novel about what you want his words to say, but don't actually say (no matter how poorly interpreted by the two of you.)
