I'm having trouble seeing how Tom impacts this trade.. Securing the Left Tackle has always been a priority of Dave Caldwell and Dave is a fairly aggressive GM

 

Dave still has a job to do and although Tom is his boss, I'm not sure Tom is over his shoulder telling him how to do it, or else Dave would have been fired.
