The Jaguars have about $71 million in projected cap space now after cutting Odrick, according to Over The Cap. They are also now lacking a starting defensive end, and they have a pass rushing need in general. 

There's a guy Coughlin knows pretty well -- Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul -- who could help the Jaguars out on both fronts in a few weeks.

The Giants appear to be aggressively pursuing Pierre-Paul before free agency begins, and they have the franchise tag at their disposal. If the Giants do not tag Pierre-Paul, though, Jacksonville could pursue him. They will have the financial resources to jack up the price to the point where the Giants (and other teams) might have to back out.

It could be a good fit for Pierre-Paul, too. He lives in Florida, he was extremely vocal in his support of Coughlin near the end of the 2015 season, and the Jaguars can give him the big-money, long-term deal he wants, with no state income tax to boot.
