Bortles Looking Better
|
Quote:That's why you look at rate numbers not overall numbers. Not so hard to understand. In 2015 Bortles' numbers were roughly similar to that of Matt Ryan. Ryan had a better completion rate (66.3 versus 58.6) but had a roughly similar amount of INT's and a lot fewer TD's (21/16 versus 35/18) while getting sacked a lot less (30 for 206 versus 51 for 320). I think your "rates" talk is baloney, Bortles in 2015 looked like a largely competent QB that needed to improve a few elements of his game (INT's and completion percentage) to break into the top third of NFL QB's. For a myriad of reasons he wasn't able to do that and he regressed massively from 2015 to 2016, some of that regression is on the coaches but some of it is on Bortles. The coaches have been replaced and Bortles appears to be have recognized whatever his part was in the regression is working to correct that. |
