The thing is, looking at it from a logical perspective the meeting probably took place and had nothing to do with the emails released.  I just find it hard to believe that he would take a meeting with the sole purpose of "getting dirt" on Shrillary.

We can speculate all we want on what he "thought", but when stepping back and looking at it logically, it doesn't make sense.  The "story" right now is what he "thought" based on an email exchange.  Several fantasy story-lines could be made from that which is what the MSM is doing.

Think about this... if what he was doing was in any way malicious, why would he release the email chain?

He released the emails because the New York Times was about to release them, and he thought he could get out in front of the story.   It was a really desperate thing to do that apparently has backfired, because now, no one can claim it's fake news. 

Email to Trump Jr. in June 2016:
"This is obviously very high level and sensitive information but is part of Russia and its government's support for Mr. Trump,"

And Trump Jr replied:
"If it's what you say I love it,"
And then he forwarded the email to Kushner and Manifort and invited them to the meeting, which they attended. 

So, whether we want to judge it malicious or dumb or whatever, there it is.   This is no longer fake news. Whether the Russians actually helped Trump get elected or not, and why, and what they might have received in return, we don't know yet, but what we do know is, the top Trump campaign people were eager for Russian help, because getting those 3 guys into that meeting is no small thing in the middle of a campaign.

So now we know, the Russians wanted to help, the intelligence agencies have all said that, and we also know the Trump campaign wanted their help. Stay tuned. This is not fake news. It's real.
