First of all, denigrating the service of any vet that got an honorable discharge is completely out of bounds, especially when you are not a vet yourself. Obama never denigrated McCain's service and neither did Bush.
Denigrating someone for his rich lifestyle is poor taste, but, it's also part of politics because most voters do want to feel like their leaders understand the challenges of not having millions of dollars.

They called McCain George Wallace.  

Also, if u think no one said that about McCain in 08 ur crazy.

Palin was a massive turn-off to the typical American centrist. Obama had a massive, motivated base, whereas McCain was fighting for his votes. Life handed john McCain the presidency with tarp.  If he suspended his campaign to oppose it he would have won.  

Also, the only time he had a polling advantage over Obama was from the Palin bump.  

In fairness, a third consecutive presidential term is rare especially with an economy in free fall, but the whole reason he picked Palin is because he had a strained relationship with the base he pretty much had disdain for.
