But a frying pan can't hold enough water. Have you ever poached an egg? Also, even along the hottest stretch of the southern border (probably western NM/eastern AZ), you're only talking 45-48C on the hottest of days, and sand actually isn't a great conductor of heat. Even if the border were paved with asphalt, you wouldn't get enough heat to boil water, and if you can't get a rolling boil, you can't poach an egg. If the egg doesn't poach, you must acquit. What were we talking about again?
