The next Florida coach

Quote:Right, because it's totally blasphemous to bring up a realistic possibility of a coach who has done well leading a program but it's entirely plausible to even mention Jon Gruden.. Ok... FWIW I couldn't care less who the Gators hire, but I think Adazio is a name that'll be floated around quite a bit in the future.

I like cutcliffe a lot more than adazio but I like him too.

Right now if I was Foley I'd be talking to, in no order:

Rich rod

Mike gundy

Dan Mullen

Bob stoops

Jim harbaugh

Secondary list would be

Cutcliffe

Kliff Kingsbury

Adazio.... Sure I'm forgetting a couple.

I still say it wouldn't hurt to talk to gruden just to see if he would consider it. But whatever...

One interesting name I have heard someone mention is Jim McElwain, current head coach at Colorado State and former OC at Alabama. He took over a program on the downturn two years ago and now has them in the top 25. Was the OC for two national title teams and one of the top recruiters. Might not move the needle much but has a good resume.

Mike Gundy I think is intriguing.  He's a man.  He's 40.

Adazio was a train wreck when he was at UF.

A lot of coordinators have been train wrecks at UF lately. I think too much blame has been put on them. Bottom line, it's a poorly run program right now, and it has been since the last year or so Urban Meyer was there.
10 years ago we had Bob Hope, Johnny Cash, and Steve Jobs..... Please don't die, Kevin Bacon.

just saw the rumor, albeit on bleacherreport.... but shanahan is interested in both florida and michigan jobs. i would be 100% on board with shanahan taking the job at florida.

he would need a good and reliable DC as well.

but he is a sharp offensive mind and definitely would be a name that brings in recruits.
