The 2015 Recruiting/Signing Day Thread
|
Quote:I talked to a guy locally and apparently the recruits that went to the Kentucky game this weekend all had to pay their own way. My first response was, I wonder who paid for their tickets. lol Ole Miss paid for his tickets to the UF vs Kentucky game. It was their last grasp in hopes to get CeCe. Talk about desperate !!! Glad he confirmed it. I thought auburn was gonna pony up more cash
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."
Quote:Glad he confirmed it. I thought auburn was gonna pony up more cashYea that's us Ole cheatin Auburn. This is so comical. They all pay them something. In fact 6,000 is now allowed We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote:I guess now UF's staff can go on their vacation. You mean Mr. Barefoot? Can you show me something that shows this is valid? I'm pretty sure thats illegal. I think you're confused with something else. Quote:Wait, you're saying they are now allowed to pay $6,000 in cash? Can you show me something that shows this is valid?Yea I think that is wrong.

Personally, I don't see anything wrong with recruits getting a couple thousand dollars spending cash when signing and committing. There definitely has to be a limit though and that limit would have to be scrutinized by The Ncaa..

There definitely has to be a limit though and that limit would have to be scrutinized by The Ncaa.. Right, $6 or $700 a month is a good chunk. They already get free room and board, meals, books, all that. I get some spending money is good because I know a lot of these guys dont come from a family that can help out. Like the article said, Auburn is going to give $6000 which will be one of the highest in the NCAA because they are doing it based on cost of living. It kind of leads you on the path that it will lead recruits there...but if it is really based on cost of living, there should be no discrepancy.
Yeah. If they're gonna do it, they need to limit it like I mentioned though. Cant turn the Ncaa into the MLB where the rich just keep getting richer.

It's optional for the non Power 5 conferences. So if you want your team to have a shot, you better start paying up. I also wonder how this is going to go with the other sports? Does volleyball, track, gymnastics, wrestling also get paid? Does Title IX come into play here? This just seems like a slippery slope. We show less advertisements to registered users. Rumor is Texas is paying 10,000. Can you imagine what Alabama will pay?

Well I imagine the big 3 would garner more money than sports like archery, bowling and water polo
Talk about a slippery slope for sure.

Quote:Well I imagine the big 3 would garner more money than sports like archery, bowling and water polo This is totally getting away from what collegiate athletics were meant for. It was meant for kids to play sports while getting an education. It's turning into a semi pro league. If that's the case, they should just break off and do their own thing. The shadiness of college football is getting shadier. Now if you really want your team to win, you better start donating more money to your booster club so you can pay players more. That's sad. They feel things changing, so instead of losing it, they kind of meet in the middle. Schools will be able to give kids a little money, and in turn the NCAA still stays filthy rich, just not as filthy.

If that's the case, they should just break off and do their own thing. That's why I say it would need a cap. Pay these kids some living money, but make it across the board in the NCAA. From a financial aspect, football, basketball and baseball SHOULD garner more money since it's the most followed by this country and those big 3 are the sports that are keeping these colleges in the black by drawing huge revenue. Whether that's right or wrong, that's just opinion, but that's the bottom line. Quote:This is totally getting away from what collegiate athletics were meant for. The NCAA has really screwed up college sports. They will have to put a cap on teams or the rich will get richer. As I understand this will go into effect in 2016. Teams better be ready. Florida,FSU,Alabama,Auburn will be in fine shape but what about UCF,Wake Forrest and Southern Miss for example. Their attendance is not what the large schools are. What would they be able to pay? |
