Bortles Looking Better

Blake didn't go to the bars even 1 time. See, this is his secret: Blake IS the bar. He has a brewery in his basement.

Hehe...ok, I was one to give him flak about drinking. Mostly because...he has been playing like a drunk. I'm actually glad to see someone address it with him. It makes me have a little more faith that he can work out his on-field issues. I hope his account of his abstinence is truthful.

Now, if he can just stick to the proper mechanics before his arm literally falls off one day in a game.

Quote:It is pretty amazing how much better his mechanics/throws are on the move.
I remember freezing the screen on a throw that hit JT in stride, the ball had zip on it and neither one of blakes feet were on the ground. I hope they roll him out more. He doesnt have to think too much about mechanics when hes running for his life haha

It ain't Bortles's mechanics as it is his head.

He's Mr. McGoo on game day.

Well you know me as Mrs. Bortles I got to have my man's back. LOL. To answer your question to why I'm not posting in the are you a Bortles believer it's because why bother when trolls like you are already set in your ways regarding him. There is nothing I can say or a counter argument I can present to you all that would have someone such as yourself to be open minded to giving him another chance as a fan. So I am still a believer in Blake and he shown me a lot of promise despite the circumstances around him preventing blake from being at his best and reaching his full potential. So I do not owe any apologies to you or any other trolls that wants to be negative towards him because I still believe he can be successful for this franchise.

You can still have hope for him developing and improving and be honest with yourself about his very apparent short comings to date. The two positions aren't mutually exclusive and someone pointing out Blake's contribution to the L column doesn't require an Owens-esque reaction if you're highly optimistic about Blake like you are. I hope we win 10 or more games this year and Blake silences his critics. I don't believe that's the most likely thing to happen with him at QB, but it is still my hope.

Homepage update on Bortles. He spent two months in CA with House and Dedeaux but was in town this weekend for his charity golf tourney.

Quote:First things first: Bortles said he likes where he is mechanically having spent much of the past two months working with his personal quarterbacks coaches in California: Tom House and Adam Dedeaux.

“I’ve really enjoyed the time I’ve spent out there,” Bortles said. “I think it’s really been beneficial. I feel really good as far as where I’m at mechanically and how the ball’s coming out and how it’s spinning and all that. I think it’s been good.”

Bortles also said he feels healthy after playing through a shoulder separation and wrist tendinitis at times last season.

“Everything’s good – good to go,” he said.

Bortles, who has struggled with mechanics at times in three NFL seasons, threw for a franchise-record 4,428 yards and 35 touchdowns in 2015 after focusing on the area with his quarterbacks coaches in the 2015 offseason. He worked mostly in Jacksonville in the 2016 offseason, and struggled with mechanics throughout most of a season in which he threw 23 touchdowns, 3,905 yards and 16 interceptions.

“The first thing we focused on was, probably what everybody would guess … just trying to tighten up the release, make that as quick as possible,” Bortles said.

Bortles said that entailed never letting his right wrist get below the elbow while throwing, and “trying to keep that parallel and not dropping down.”

“That was probably the main focus and then just a couple tweaks here and there in different things,” he said.

Bortles, the No. 3 overall selection by the Jaguars in the 2014 NFL Draft, said while the issue didn’t take long to fix, the first week “wasn’t pretty.”

“It didn’t look good and that’s a part of it,” he said. “When you’re trying to change things, it’s not going to be great but we were able to kind of hash that out and now it’s going well.”
