With all the ICU beds in Florida supposedly full, you would expect deaths to be a lot higher. There is very little deaths for all the people testing positive and filling up the hospitals.

There is very little deaths for all the people testing positive and filling up the hospitals. They aren't all full. Miami-Dade alone still has more than 250 ICU beds available today and they are the hottest of the hot spots in the State of Florida. Beware of the alarmist news puking about X number of ICUs being "full." Nassau Country has no ICU beds available, but they only had 8 to start with. Many of the so called full facilities are the same, small units are full but they were single digits in beds anyway. We currently have more than 50% capacity available across the state. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato

We got a Med Staff update this morning: Hospitalizations in Duval plateaued last week and began to decline over the weekend. Bed capacity for both Med Surg and ICU is not critical as <20% of our total capacity is currently used by Covids. ED cases continue to hold steady at about 40 positives a day, but almost all are mild to moderate cases that are sent home to quarantine and recover. For admissions the length of stay continues to be around 3 days, but area hospitals have contingencies in place to rapidly create additional bed space if needed. Nursing staff resources are still in the green. So, we continue to have docs, beds, and nurses available locally. Testing also continues to increase as the feds continue to fund local testing sites with commiserate positive cases. These numbers reflect an uptick since the 1st of the month, but it appears we've weathered the increase from reopening the economy so far.

So are Hawaii's Being on an island helps. Having a slow island lifestyle helps. The tyranny and ideology aren't that significant, it seems.

As COVID surges in Puerto Rico, thousands have lost steady access to running water
Hawaii reports 25 new COVID-19 cases, pushing statewide total to 1,418 But Cuba claims none in 4 months. They're either lying, which is not uncommon for communists, or their tyranny is paying COVID dividends. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

For 130 consecutive days before that, they reported at least one new case. The totals are all comparable, especially when you put them next to the extremely high numbers in Florida.

The islands all don't have much COVID, but, the peninsula has a lot. Cuba was averaging about one new case per day per 500,000 people Hawaii is averaging about one new case per day per 50,000 people. You may think that's not very comparable, but we're over here averaging one new case per day per 2,000 people. Hawaii and Cuba look more similar than Hawaii and Florida do, in terms of dealing with Covid.
