What are our go to plays within the redzone?

Quote:Seems stupidly difficult for BB5 to get passing touchdowns. Is it Blake,  our WRs, or does the playcalling just suck? Or is it all three?

Jaguars go to plays in the redzone?

Run up the middle for no gain.

Run to the outside with a fumble.

Pass underneath tipped for an INT.

Pass deep middle for an INT.

I think that about sums it up.

Not sure that we have a go to play in the red zone because I think the coaches are still trying to figure out the players' strengths, and the players are still getting comfortable with the playbook.

Worst to 1st.  Curse Reversed!

Quote:We've had 53 plays in the Red Zone this year. 7 of which were against the Eagles and Redskins. And 2 were against the Colts. Leaving 46 red zone plays for Bortles (since becoming starter, though he had 2 against the Colts, and managed to score

Good post, thx Dr.

Looking at those outcomes, to me it shows passing in the red zone is absolutely dreadful,, while sticking with the run is much more successful.

Those results are expected though with a Rookie QB and very inexperienced receivers (Shorts and Lewis out for much of that time).

I know that O-line and RBS are inexperented too (Gerhart not withstanding, being pretty ineffective). But, it looks like it's working much better for the Jags in scoring position.

Our redzone starts at the 30. We make plays about 30 yrds so start there and run the rest of the way in. As far as goal line playbook, throw it out b/c it doesn't work very well.

Redzone? REDZONE!? I'd be happy if we make it past midfield!

The play i would like to see run when we are on the 5 or closer is a jumbo package Playaction Bootleg with BB5 option to run it in or pass it. everytime i see that play run by anyone it works. The bootleg is part of Fisch playbook and works most times and yet not once have i seen it inside the 10 yard line.

Another one is the play run on us in Houston many years ago. and i have not seen it more then one other time. when we have the ball on the 1 yard or less line just have BB5 reach over the goal line with the ball. I remember when Carr did that to on the last play of the game in Houston and it stuck in my head as one pissing me off that it was that easy and two why noone else does that.

I would expect that getting a bigger WR (6'4" or taller) and/or TE is going to be a priority this offseason.

Lewis is expensive and injury-prone and Clay Harbor is merely adequate; TE is probably our weakest position overall behind LB.

We have some young talent at WR, but we don't have that big target that we need.  Might see Ace Sanders cut if he doesn't make some serious progress this offseason.

We've been horrific passing the ball in the redzone.
