It really shows the skills and confidence ARob has with this team when he gets more snaps than the veteran Shorts.... Love him.

 

I don't understand why Robinson was not projected higher than Lee before the draft. It seemed like everybody expected Robinson to have a better career than Lee despite the fact that he was drafted later and those predictions have been accurate this season. It is scary to think we would have missed out on Robinson if Caldwell had not found a willing trade partner after picking Lee.

Lee was more productive in college. Robinson, who came out as a Junior, was projected anywhere from late first to third round, so we got him right where he was in a good value spot.

I don't think it has to do with his knowledge of the playbook. Lee is just not getting open as often as Robinson, Shorts, and Hurns.

Lee is smaller. It's going to take him some time to realize he really needs to hit the weight room.. He can't beat press and we didn't have the oline working enough to be able to hit him deep

I don't think it has to do with his knowledge of the playbook. Lee is just not getting open as often as Robinson, Shorts, and Hurns.

He literally had like 5 routes he ran.


On the first TD of the year where Henne threw to Hurns, Lee was also wide open and would have had an easy TD.

Receivers take time, especially ones with gifted speed. Often they relied too much on athleticism in college. I think he will be solid.

That to me says playbook and/or effort issues when he doesnt think the ball is going to be fed to him.

He is a rookie, and sometimes rookies take time.

 

A while back, I started a thread, essentially asking the same thing, but didn't word it all that great.

 

I wonder if the same mental midget will bump this thread and act like a fool here too. I sort of miss that.

 

He may not ever be that good. More probable though, is that he just needs more time.

You contradicted yourself. A player who fights for YAC obviously does not have an effort issue.

Hurns has done it too and even Blackmon did this a little when he wasnt getting a steady dose of targets when he played.

That interception was caused by Shorts staying in the game too long. He strained a hamstring one play before and tried to stay in the game.

Oh look, another "why isn't our rookie playing at Pro Bowl level yet?" thread.

 

He's not getting more playing time because he hasn't earned it. Pretty simple. Obviously Robinson and Hurns have progressed faster than him. It doesn't mean he won't develop (see CSIII's rookie year) and I'm sure his injuries have factored into Robinson and Hurns passing him.

 

But there's really no reason to force him onto the field just to "see what he's got" if he hasn't earned the playing time. His contract is what, 3-4 years? There's plenty of time to see what he's got. Lee can't play bad enough for Caldwell to draft another WR in the first 3 rounds next draft anyway.

Hurns was ahead of the curve, and Lee wasnt. We have the best WR coach in the business. Eventually, Lee will start getting it, and getting on the field

I'm assuming Marqise is having a hard time digesting the playbook, once he accomplishes that it will allow him to play a lot faster.

You can certainly have an effort issue before the ball is in his hands. In fact, ARob was criticized for that very thing in some draft literature.

Hurns gets most of the reps as the #3 WR.

 

Lee gets most reps when he fakes and end-around.  I counted only a handful of routes he actually ran this Sunday.

 

Why aren't we forcing him to play?  We invested a lot in him, I think we should see what we have in him (similar theory to why other rookies are starting)....

 

Just doesn't make much sense to me.

 

We invested a 2nd round draft pick in him.  Slow down there.  Guys like Robinson don't normally turn it on like that in their rookie year.  Honestly I was expecting Lee to have a year like Shorts had his rookie year.  It takes time for most young WR's.

 

Plus there are going to be guys from that draft who bust or don't live up to expectations.  Happens every year with every team's draft picks.

 

Honestly I think we may have had the best draft of any team.  Bortles, Robinson, Linder, and Telvin all look to be long term starters.  Colvin is practicing now and could play by as early as after the bye week.  Not to mention Bowanko and Hurns have turned out well.  That's a pretty damn good rookie class in one offseason.
