Blake Bortles Debut - Impressed

#21

I have no problem with him throwing interceptions, this is a lost season anyways, let him make his mistakes and learn from them in the film room.

He has everything you look for in a quarterback. He showed flashes you want to see today. He's playing with absolute trash around him right now. He's got some solid receivers but this offensive line is embarrassing. And the running backs are terrible. Denard could offer something as a change of pace guy but Gerhart stinks. I would like to see Storm Johnson possibly get some carries next week.

Anyone who did not expect rookie mistakes is an idiot. Someone called the sack near our goal line "a young player trying to do too much." In other words, Blake was reminding everyone he is a rookie. So I am OK with that because it is fixable.

Something that impressed me was he did not get mad at himself for throwing interceptions, which is a good thing because neither of them were his fault.

Both of the interceptions were Blake's fault. But, i can live with them as he is still learning.

Gun slinger he just may be.

I mostly agree with that. First INT shouldn't have been thrown but Cecil could have bailed him out by coming back to the ball

0-4 with losses to 3 playoff teams (Colts Eagles and Bolts) and another loss to the skins when we were just so bad.

Also 3 road games. We all knew the beginning of the season was going to be rough. Maybe not this rough though.

Yeah, what happened to attacking downfield?

29/37 1TD 2INTS in his first start. Not sure what more you could have expected.  The loss stings.  We're 0-4 but it shouldn't diminish a good showing by a rookie QB.  We went complete halves without a first down in the first 2 games.

They were playing farther back not letting us go down field. Then receivers struggled underneath, namely Mike Brown. You can't be a balanced offense when its 30-14 in the 4th quarter. Defense couldn't stop them to close the half and to start the next one. Really killed the game.

No pain, no gain.

The first one was a good play by the defense. The second one Cecil Shorts could not make a move to get the ball because he tweaked his hamstring.

Impressed with Blake. With Ace returning, Brown has to go. Too many Drops......shorts is unreliable. Can't catch a break on Defense......Getting beat in zone and blitz. But it's evident we lack talent to compete with Top teams. Barring injuries, I'm hopeful but We can't overlook the inexperience

Blake had the highest completion percentage of any rookie QB in his first game EVER!

If he had talent around him....oh boy. He's defiantly our guy though

Loved him.

21 first downs.

300+ yards of offense.

Had the defense made some stops would have been even better. Once we got behind by 2 scores they started bringing the house every down.
IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS

I thought he showed hesitation in the second half to throw it in the 15-20 yard range. Maybe that's because Shorts went out or they were taking the mid-range routes away. The INT's don't bother me, those will happen and they do, when you're forcing the ball into places to try to make something happen. At least he was doing that.

I truly believe he will be a special player. I feel better about the future of the franchise only because of him.
