Ryan davis is league leader in sacks

Quote:Correct. Signed april 2012.

Was an UDFA alongside Julian Stanford, Drew Nowak, Kevin Elliott and (gulp) Jarrett Boykin who should have been retained.

Damn Gene Smith.

The weird thing about Boykin was I don't think he even made it to camp. Was Dajuan Harris thay year too?

I don't remember - but I think Boykin was cut early and Harris was signed after another team cut him. Not sure though.

I'm rewatching the game and I am noticing Davis lining up inside as part of the 3 LEO set, which suits him just fine with this violent hands and quick anticipation off the line.

It's a sight to behold with Clemons, Branch, and Davis rushing (among others).

IIRC Davis is more of a pasa rushing DT in the light night package.

That's basically what his role is limited to

After the initial shock, disappointment, etc... I think most are feeling good about where this team is headed.  Yes, some are going to be frustrated that Bortles isn't playing and honestly, hard not to feel that way as I'd prefer to see him in there instead of Henne, but we have some good things going on our D-Line and Secondary.  Now without Cyp, the middle will be suspect, but this unit is only a player or so away from being scary good.

In what world is he a DT?

He lines up inside some times? One of his sacks he absolutely whooped the guard lining up in front of him.

Not sure if Boykin is good or if it's the Aaron Rodgers affect, I'm pretty sure its the A-Rod affect.

Rodgers helps -  but a guy who can catch 50 balls for 680 yds and 3 TDs from a great QB could have helped out the miserable 2012/13 Jaguars receiving corps even without someone elite slinging the rock.  Probably would have been a better alternative than Kerry Taylor last year,  no?  Even Mike Brown for that matter.  Having a guy that's 6'2" - 217 pounds with good hands as your 4th or 5th receiver is a good thing.

OnTopic:   It's amazing how much impact Davis had in only 22 snaps Sunday.  Dude is looking like a  playmaker on defense.  I hope he can cement that rep.

Quote:What about chemistry with Poz and the former Seahawks? All 11 guys have to work together, you know.

When Poz does anything other than tackle after a 5-8 yard gain let me know.  Reynolds is the best LB we have on our team followed by Watson.  Telvin may be able to be after he adjusts to the pros.

Harris played for us in preseason games and we signed him that year. After we cut him, he went to Green Bay. There he earned the starting job until Eddie Lacy was drafted.

After double checking - Harris was signed by the Jags in 2011 as an udfa  -  a year prior to Boykin.  He was released in late august 2012.

Right, I remember he got the next carry after MJD's record-breaking 50-yard run.
