Gus Bradley: "Chad Henne preformed efficiently"
|
Quote:All 3 drops were on deeper passes. If all 3 were caught, the entire dynamic of the game could have changed. We'll never know. you have to overcome drops. Drops happen to every team at every game. Sacks happen, turnovers happen. That's why you get more than one shot at scoring. With the number of drives we had, we produces "diddly poo".... it's not all on Henne, far from it, but I'm not going to start making excuses for his poor play in the 2nd half.

Quote:ESPN didn't invent the quarterback rating. No, but they did invent QBR.
I was wrong about Trent Baalke.
Quote:All 3 drops were on deeper passes. If all 3 were caught, the entire dynamic of the game could have changed. We'll never know. Same answer as before. It happens to every team. The Colts had several of those moments last night. I remember a key pass that would have been a 1st going off Reggie Waynes hands. That pass alone could have changed the course of the game as they lost a close one.
This team needs better than efficient. That just aint gonna cut it anymore. Henne needs to step up this week. His stats don't tell the whole story.

He just went on last week about showing Bortles that he would have his back when he's the starter and that Bortles had commented on the staff's support of Chad making him feel good about the future. Is he gonna get behind the mic one week later and lambaste his starter??? I think not. People are making WAYYYYYYY too much out of a little coach-speak euphemism. Quote:No, but they did invent QBR.No they invented whats called the Total QBR which is different. Quote:What was the QB in half 2 when it mattered most? I'd bet it wasn't middle of the pack.So if we flip flopped halves that would have mattered? We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:It's just things coaches say when they aren't going to bash their quarterback in a press conference. Big deal. I don't think anyone expects him to trash his QB. They just expect him to say "We have to get better."

Quote:I don't think anyone expects him to trash his QB. They just expect him to say "We have to get better." He did. Oehser summing up Bradley's comments on Henne: Quote:Henne, who completed 12 of 17 passes for 167 yards and two touchdowns in the first half, finished the game 24-of-43 passing for 266 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions. That meant he completed 12 of 26 passes for 99 yards in the second half, during which Bradley said he had six or seven passes dropped. I really don't see some gleaming endorsement of Henne here. Just a coach being a coach at a press conference.
Quote:So if we flip flopped halves that would have mattered? no.... if we're down by 34 and we get some garbage time points, it wouldn't have mattered.

I dont like to hear Gus talk about football. I dont listen to his radio show or his videos from his press conferences. I just hope he can coach the team efficiently for the remainder of his contract. I'll take that progress right now.

Honestly, what good would have come from Gus blasting Henne in a press conference?
Quote:No?So are we just mad he couldn't maintain a nearly perfect game through the second half? If he could do that, he would be Peyton Manning not Chad Henne.

In the first half, the offense got gifted with extremely short fields. Other than that they were completely inept. All other drives only combined for 3 points. I don't think efficient is the way to describe it but if it is starting to sound like a change is coming then I'm all for it.
This as some awfully selective reporting by BCC. They cherry picked one comment to post an article, and ignored the entire context of the presser.
Bradley wasn't all rainbows and gum drops. Quote:“We weren’t pleased with the result,” Bradley said. “We expected us to be at our best, and we weren’t.” Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
