Five Offensive Tackles, Why?

Quote:Young is a turnstile...you do not want him starting if you value any QB's health. I'm not so sure the tape on him showed that this preseason.

Quote:Thanks for the insights. I thought maybe FBT or one of the members that saw some of the camps could have seen some tackle heavy sets that would give a clue. Without any such sightings noted I thought I would dig a little bit and looked up Young and Wells on PFF to see their preseason grades. Wells did not show anything special but Young really stands out. He has the highest grades of any Jag offensive player in preseason, +6.1 total. +2.9 for pass blocking and +2.7 for run blocking. Bortles is second with +5.0. Young also had the second most offensive snaps of any player with 148.I personally do not think Caldwell is trying to make a trade. Thinking came from a interview Oesher had with Howard Cosell, I believe. The interview talked about who we were drafting and Cosell talked about whoever we choose at 3 will give us insight to the philosophy the team is trying to implement. He said a tackle we show more of a power run game were a qb may signal changing to a aerial attack. Another was when the guys on Jaguars Thurday were talking a few weeks ago and talked about when you shape the roster do keep developmental guys or guys who can play for you this year. Do you go heavy at this spot or light at that spot. I like I said this is all speculation on my behalf but none of those linemen outside of Bowanko have a legit chance at being a starter over the current starters. 10 linemen on an active roster is a lot and the only thinking I could see is for reasons of max protection schemes and power run sets. Quote:Greg Cosell? (nephew of Howard) No, Howard. It wasn't so much an interview as it was a seance. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! |
