If every GM in the league called Caldwell tomorrow...

Texans would have to give me Clowney and Watt.  Thats the only way I would do it.

I disagree. A franchise QB is better than 2 great defensive players (ask the Rams). If Bortles is indeed better than Luck like you say (who is a franchise QB) why would you trade him for those 2 guys?

Along with that top 5 draft pick they'll be sporting at the end of this season.

I'm not trading Bortles for anyone. Maybe 3 first rounders, and I'd still have to think about it.

That's tempting, but the way Bortles pushes the ball downfield, very poised, can run,and hard to bring down...I'd have to say...Nah!

Oh it would have to be QB for QB and the only ones that will get us the years we need for it to be well compensated is Luck or Rodgers.

From what I've seen, there really isn't anyone I'd trade him for. With as good as he is now in addition to his crazy potential... And also, he's OUR guy. Not a retread. Not a traded player. Ours. Keep it that way for fifteen years.

I'd chuckle and hang up the phone.

I wouldn't trade him for Luck.

LMAO!!!!!!! I am as big of fan as anyone I've met.  Granted I'm in Nebraska so I don't have the inside info you guys have, but I have been waiting for a franchise QB for a long time.  And I think Blake has a chance to be that guy.  To say that we wouldn't trade Bortles for Luck is absurd.

I can't say Bortles is better than Luck, yet, because one hasn't gotten the chance to shine.

Just wait.

It's coming.

Quote:Okay, I get that you think highly of Bortles. An I'm with you, dude. I'm excited, too. But to question whether I "was joking" or not is absurd. Luck has been in the playoffs twice and threw for more yards than anyone else in their first two years. Playing with trash on offense and defense. It's not like I said Alex Smith. Luck isn't bad, Bortles could be better. But let's not act like I'd trade him for trash like Geno Smith or Derek Carr. I dig the enthusiasm though

Luck is a damn good QB. Too bad he's a colt.

Quote:I love Bortles just as much as you guys but he hasn't played in a real game yet. To say you wouldn't trade Bortles for Luck is nuts. I hate that Luck is in the Colts because we will always have to compete against him and he's very very good. Did you see the Chiefs playoff game?

I am so glad we have Bortles but saying you wouldn't trade him for Luck is like saying you wouldn't trade Wiggins for Durant.

Agreed and thats despite the fact that I love what I have seen from Blake so far.

I would feel much more confident in saying that if we had an actual good offensive line.

If Blake ain't playing due to injury, then he can't be better than Luck.

Our OL needs help in a big way.

All impressions are he won't be playing for a while so I'm not too worried about that.

Plus, his pocket awareness/mobility/size will help considerably.  He's good enough in all of those aspects to make the line look better than they are.

I've made my opinion well aware on starting him but also acknowledge it isn't my choice and my career isn't potentially hinging on the decision.

The OL isn't good but it's better at pass blocking IMO than it is in run blocking.  The interior of the OL, as it is NOW, stinks on ice.

I still say Bortles upside >>>>>> Andrew Luck.

It wasn't good at pass blocking tonight. Blake got knocked around and sacked.
