Quote:I'm trying very hard to remember a more petty complaint. The dude is obviously an A+ [BLEEP] clown in need of serious attention.
Quote:If they actually see the money, then its certainly great for the cause. Who cares? They are donating, and I now a lot of people that didn't know about ALS know. You have a problem with everything....it just gets old.
Quote:The gimmicky phenomenon has raised more than $10 million for the charity since this thing started, which is far and away crushing any fundraising they've done previously. That number was from a couple of days ago, so it's possible it's gone significantly higher. Last I heard was $22 million, and that was a couple days ago. That "gimmick" worked amazing...its helped raise donations as well as spread the word about ALS. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:I may be behind the times, but do the ice buckets have and significance? Or is it just something that somebody decided to do? I believe the original person that did the ALS challenge actually had ALS and challenged others to do the challenge or donate. It caught on from there.
Quote:I may be behind the times, but do the ice buckets have and significance? Or is it just something that somebody decided to do? I may be wrong, but I think it's to counter that idiotic fire challenge.
Quote:Who cares? They are donating, and I now a lot of people that didn't know about ALS know. This is true. The important thing is they are donating and getting needed money to a good cause. I still have a disdain for people whose ulterior motives are selfish and wish there were more people that would just do good for the sake of doing good (such as donating to ALS), and ANONYMOUSLY, but thats just the way it is I guess. We don't live in a humble society. A lot of people wouldn't do good unless they can broadcast themselves doing it. - but its better than them NOT donating, so... I know it comes off as "petty" and maybe it is, but I'd just like to live in a world where people would do good things like donate to causes like ALS and not need some gimmick and face time to do so. I'd like more people to do good for the right reasons. Maybe thats just being too idealistic.

Last year they made about 1.5 million. Last I saw they were almost at 16 million. Not sure why some feel the need to turn this into a negative. That is what is cliche.

Would you just shut your piehole already. ![]()
Quote:I never heard of that one...do I even want to know what it was/ is?? It's idiots pouring some sort of fire starter on themselves and then lighting themselves on fire. If you're dumb enough to do that challenge on your own free will, you deserve everything you get.

That is what is cliche. see post 28 which is after some reflection of my post yesterday. I headed it off saying that getting the money for the cause is more important right now than any ulterior motives to why anyone donated. We show less advertisements to registered users. If you're dumb enough to do that challenge on your own free will, you deserve everything you get. Good Lord....smh. I think I'll gladly rather have them doing this (ice bucket) challenge than that one. Quote:The charity disagrees. Last year they made about 1.5 million. Last I saw they were almost at 16 million. Not sure why some feel the need to turn this into a negative. That is what is cliche.Agreed. This thing has raised a huge chunk of money for a charity that is much deserving of the attention. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Quote:I'm pretty sure you've been whooshed. Actually I think I vaguely remember some social media trend several months back where people were doing something like what Josh described....so maybe its related.... or you could be right. Quote:Agreed. This thing has raised a huge chunk of money for a charity that is much deserving of the attention. I know. It really is the most important thing at this point. I'm guessing in regards to the Jaguars tho, they probably already did this in some form. When I was watching the football game last night, they had video of both teams participating in it in their home cities. They had a giant front loader come by filled with icewater at their practices and dumped it on many players at a time.
Quote:I may be behind the times, but do the ice buckets have any significance? Or is it just something that somebody decided to do? I believe the ice is supposed to shock/dull your senses temporarily, signifying what it is like to live with ALS. Something like that. |
