Don't you have to know the people that you are putting up for the ice bucket challenge?

Its a good cause and all, but its really getting a bit cliche with these challenges to every random person.

People seem to be doing it now because its trendy and not for the right reasons.

I don't know about that, as long as people are still donating...keep it going.

I just dont know how someone like say.....me, would get the whole Jaguar team to do the challenge.  They dont know me, and I'm sure if I made that request it wouldnt mean much.

Theres many other worthwhile causes don't have some trendy gimmick to support them at the moment. Cancer research, alzheimers, diabetes....and on and on.

I guess I gut your point that the ends justify the means, but I'd rather people do things from a pure intention standpoint rather than some narcissistic trendy gimmick crap.

I see some of these actors (and people on facebook) doing the ALS challenge and its really all about them, They wouldn't be doing crap if they couldn't make a little bit about themselves while doing it.

The bigger names doing the challenge gets recognition for something like ALS.  That alone has made it worth it.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

Sometimes it's just best to keep really dumb opinions to yourself.

I'm guessing all of the people afflicted by this disease that stand to benefit from the money donated are all pretty tired of such a cliche and gimmicky phenomenon.

But then again, it's not about them. As is everything, this is clearly about you.

If they actually see the money, then its certainly great for the cause.

My issue lies with the many that wouldn't be donating jack squat without some gimmick here or without themselves getting promotion time out of it. I'd like to see more people donate simply because its the right thing to do...not just because they can make it about "themselves" as some of these people no doubt have done. I've seen it on facebook myself, and know some of these people so I know what I am talking about.

But as Josh said in different words, the end justifies the means in this case, so I guess thats what I should remember.

Dude in the football helmet was flat knocked out by the garbage can of water crashing down on top of him.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

The gimmicky phenomenon has raised more than $10 million for the charity since this thing started, which is far and away crushing any fundraising they've done previously.   That number was from a couple of days ago, so it's possible it's gone significantly higher.

It's raising awareness, and more importantly, it's raising money for the charity.

in so many of those, I never realized how much technique it apparently requires to pour a simple bucket of water on your (or someone elses head) without it turning into a disaster.... Laughing

Especially when you see how much money this charity has raised from this trendy action.

I'm trying very hard to remember a more petty complaint.
