Watching Doug Marrone's post-game press conference now...

Quote:Well yeah this is understandable.  More statistics from the coach to criticize when he fails at some minor statistic.  I see what he's saying but i also see the setup for failure but carry on.

Oh man.... You've got it bad

Quote:Watching the locker room speech, one thing struck me.

Not intending to kick Bradley when he's down.  In fact, the few post game victory speeches were pretty good.

But Marrone, compared to Bradley, seemed like a grown up.

He mentioned what happened with the fans when the team plays well.  That lets me know the players have been distracted by that, and it seems Marrone managed to get the players to focus on their assignments.

He also seemed humble, and belied the narrative of him after he left Buffalo.

Yes, a grown-up!  I've watched his interviews and press briefings this week.  So far, I like the guy.  I like the fact that he's a loyal guy.  I like how he deflects attention from himself.  Good job!

He was talking about how Tennessee loses a lot when they don't rush 4ypc, so they put an extra emphasis on stopping their run gains, also said they forced them to throw to the outside and challenge our corners. Really refreshing to listen to a coach that obviously put in the work to find out other teams' strengths and weaknesses. Not saying Bradley never did this, but he sure as hell never mentioned anything like that.

He put a great game plan together. It's clear that's something that's been missing since at least 2011.

A good coach looks for strengths and takes them away from the other team and attacks their weaknesses. Im pretty sure Gus has no clue on that concept

Marrone is already 1/14th of the way to Gus career record in wins, as the Jags interim HC.

He's also already half way to Gus' 2016 win total after just 1 game coached, also as the Jags interim HC.

I survived the Gus Bradley Error.

We looked like a team with a clue and purpose instead of just guys straining and trying to do too much. Everything out of Doug's mouth that I've heard has been like a breath of fresh air. More sense of team and responsibility/duty to each other and less about effort and high school shenanigans. As the game went on there was a sense that "we got this" in the fourth quarter and not an inevitable panic party.

No pain, no gain.

I have been in favor of Marrone taking over since midway last season. The guy is a hard worker and a great coach. I'm glad he's making the most out of these two games.
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

Lol oh man... I remember when you were an idiot on this board if you thought Marrone would be a better coach than Bradley.

Just watched it. Night. And. Day. What a difference. And what he said about making sure everyone was communicating, on the sane page, is a big deal. The coaches and players have been operating under a very different mindset for several years now and for Marrone to be able to get everyone on the same page in a week is telling of his leadership skills and expectations as well as how much everyone else wanted to do well even though the season is over for them. They didn't have the piss poor attitude seen around with the fans of wanting to lose the last two games to get a better draft position.

These people are competitors and even with the season in the toilet and being mismanaged for several years they still managed to show up and do their jobs and do them well.

Marrone may not be the permanent answer but I'm a very happy Jags fan tonight.

If he excels like this next week. No way he is not in HC contention.

I think the team would have won this game regardless of who was HC.

I'm just glad people have stopped calling Marrone the unfair quitter label.

Bradley probably gave our players 30 minute breaks every 10 minutes

Marrone looks like he will chew your face off if you screw up and cross him, in addition to knowing what he's doing. This is what these young guys need

I don't believe they would have won if the last guy was the previous HC, I don't believe that at all.

Yeah what I mean is I don't think it mattered who was interim HC for the game. Think it was player driven more so than Marrone doing anything special.
