I question his credibility too. He obviously knows more than all of us but he never has anything bad to say about most qbs. I honestly don't care what Gruden thinks.

He is a positive guy. He doesn't focus on the bad, but he does point out flaws. I think his passion makes people feel he loves everyone, however, if you actually listen to what he says he reveals a lot of people that come to his camp are projects.

Jon Gruden isn't going to get in a habit of bashing QB's that go to his camp,that perception wouldn't be good for the QB's draft stock, top rated QB's would surely stop attending the camp. I don't agree with everything Gruden says about these prospects, he's looking at with rose tinted glasses, as he has to. However, I'm 100% certain (behind closed doors) Jon Gruden is a credible source for football related information than any of us will ever be, that's the point I'm trying to make.

He gets that because of his track record as a OC nod head coach to get the most out of the QBs he had. If you look at the QBs that were taken during his tenure in Tampa....who did he ever really get a chance to develop?


One of the rumored reasons him and the first GM Tampa had when they traded for Gruden had a falling out was because he wanted to trade up for Big Ben....and the GM didn't do it.

This is a ridiculous way of looking at it. Did he not have a say in what QB were brought in under his watch? Did ANY of them really get better under Gruden? I recall him having a revolving door of QB. 

 

 

Good coaching improves the players you have. Look at an example in Jerry Sullivan, here. He seems to make at least some positive difference in almost every receiver we bring in. No, he doesn't turn them all into studs, but at least they improve. I remember Gruden's handling of his QB in Tampa to be a train wreck. 

 

 

Id take Gruden's advice over anyone's on this board, that's for sure..

To say Gruden never developed a QB is ridiculous.  Can anyone name his starting QBs his first year as head coach of the Raiders?  Jeff George and Donald Hollas.  No one here has even heard of Donald Hollas.  Ie they had nobody. The next year they bring in Rich Gannon who was a career backup journeyman loser.  And within 3 years Gannon is the MVP.  of the entire NFL.

 

Now he has this TV show and he talks up all the QBs on there(as if he started bashing them they would continue to accept his invitation to be there).  And now all of a sudden because he was so nice Tim Tebow and Blaine Gabbert he now no longer has any credibility.  Gimme a break.

Gannon started for the Chiefs the year before he went to Oakland. He was 34 years old and had played decent in KC. Gruden didn't develop him.
