Jon Gruden says any team that passes on Johnny Manziel will regret it

#1

Was watching him on first take. Here are some quotes:

"He is a kid....he is not a finished product, he isn't 23 as a 5th year senior"

"If he gets in the right system with a coach that believes in him....Manziel will be a Smash Hit"

"He can create offense unlike most guys I have ever seen, and he has guts, quickness, vision, and he loves the big arena....guys like him don't come along often"

"There isn't a play Manziel can't run"

"It might not happen right away, but this kid is going to go places if someone gives him the opportunity"

He also mentioned Johnny is ranked much higher than any other QB in this draft class

"He does have issues, but he can learn, he wants to learn, and boy is he fun to be around"

"We had two days of chalk board (with Manziel) and he has very good communication skills, very good retention, and when he learns it he can teach it, and that's what these QBs of today have to do with this new CBA. They have to be able to get on the phone, call these players, and meet up to run these workouts that the coaches can't"

"The priority of an organization has to be a QB....you better have a QB, or you better start developing one, or the chances are you will be like me, FIRED!"

"It's not about what this QB can do in my offense, it's about putting an offense together that really accentuates this kid's strengths."

"Anyone who passes on Johnny Manziel will regret it"

" I called plays for 14 years, and this is the kind of kid I'm looking for, this is the kind of QB I want to be around. I just get a certain feeling when I'm in the room with him, and I think he permeates confidence throughout the entire building"

"There is a certain magic to this kid"

Gruden praises every single QB who he interviews.

Yea but he also said he is ranked much higher than any QB in this class.....like #1 worthy.....

I don't necessarily agree that I would take him #1 overall.....but these are some pretty strong statements.

Didn't he also say Carr should be the first pick?

I could walk into his QB camp and he think I'd be worth a 1st round pick lol

Gruden loves every QB

Good Lord, if so, any shred of credibility Gruden had, which granted wasn't much.....is permanently gone.

Just this morning he included Jordan Lynch as 'one of the 7 or 8 relevant QB prospects in this draft.' I guess you're only relevant to this class if you are invited onto his show, even if the only reason you were invited is because of silly Tebow comps so they could just find another reason to slobber over Timmy again.

He hinted his QB ratings go:

Manziel - which he ranked much higher than any other QB

Carr - because of his arm talent

Bridgewater - loves his toughness and football IQ, but is not impressed with his arm.

Bortles - thinks he does have prototypical attributes but he has a lot of work to do

LMAO..good old John Gruden.

To his credit, he roasted Jimmy Clausen in his QB Camp 4 years ago.

I'm not saying you're trying to do this, but I find it funny when a message board member calls out the credibility of a FORMER NFL COACH because they're opinions don't match, Jon Gruden has more credibility in his pinky than any of us will ever have, show some humility for once.

Jon Gruden is all bark, but no bite.  I remember how giddy he was about Tebow and kept bad mouthing the Jags for not trading for him. I laugh everytime someone tells me he's a great coach, because of his super bowl.

Jon Gruden actually has a pretty lousy track record with QB, though. Remember Tampa Bay?

I can't recall a single young QB he has ever developed.

Worst to 1st.  Curse Reversed!

Yes i do, and I'm not saying that I agree with what he's saying, but he was a head coach in the league, for a number of years. Imo, for a fan to call out the credibility of any professional coach is a bit silly.

Not only that, but to make the assertion that Jon Gruden doesn't know what he's talking about when it comes to QB's is ludicrous, and hilarious, especially coming from a message board.
