If we get say like Vick or Mccown in FA then we need to get Sammy Watkins..

Well it also helps throwing to Marshall, Jeffery and having Forte in the backfield.

They CAN have a good year, doesn't mean they will.  Derek Anderson managed to look competent for a year.  So did Matt Cassel and Matt Flynn.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

I much rather have Vick then McCown, if Vick gets hurt then you plug in the rookie QB you drafted and we are done

You're at the car shop with tires that won't support your car anda limited aamount of money. You have enough to buy either some sweet rims or a sweet set of tires.

Since your tires don't work, you HAVE to buy the sweet tires for your car to function. however if your buddy gave you some Run down but functional ones for free, you now have options. You can either buy sweet rims or tires. Of course your buddy's tires wont be good forever but they'll be fine for now.

In short, your buddy's tires give you ooptions at the shop. Henne gives you options in the draft. That make any sense?
Not really.  Explain an actual scenario where we would pass on a QB prospect because we have Henne?

We have an issue, and either the guy's worth drafting or he's not.  If Henne is here or not, we shouldn't be massively reaching for a sub par QB prospect anyway.

Aren't we building for next year? Surely you don't believe we are contenders this year.

You build the pieces around the quarterback first....OL....and the weapons......Watkins is a weapon. I believe that is Dave's philosophy. I am sure he is going BAP.....could be Watkins......Mack.....who is ever highest on his board.

Watkins goes well with any roster. Just saying.

Bouman is sitting back in his tractor looking at his cell phone. His wife has said that the only words he has said for the past four days is simply," Soon."

I think Vick is officially out of the plans now that we resigned Chad. I just don't see Caldwell paying 3 QB's (Chad, Blaine, and Vick) before drafting another one. And they will draft one. This is it folks, if the QB we draft isn't good, its back to the Henne/Blaine show again...

Yes, it's improvement, but it's Blaine Gabbert 2012 level improvement. - Pirkster

Absolutely.

Like Blackmon, he's a talent on another level like we haven't had since Jimmy Smith.

The Clowney/QB debate is overshadowing who will definitely be considered at #3 depending on who's on/off the board, IMO.

With all the other stories out there, his is under the radar, so to speak.

Think of it this way.

Henne could end up our Flynn.  The guy we signed but didn't need, if we make the right choice.  Henne will likely start the season, but if things go well he may not end it.  Best part?  We didn't break the bank for him.

Wide receiver class is way to deep to be drafting watkins.

Especially when you can get guys like Jordan Matthews and Donete Moncrief later on

Henne just resigned.  Vick and McCown are off the table.

One could say the same about QB.

It all depends on who's on/off the board.
