Sign Greg Hardy and draft Clowney.

Getting Hardy or Orakpo and drafting Clowney is an absolute dream sequence for the Jags.

The best part is that there's a realistic possibility it could play out that way.

It would instantly make the Jaguars potentially the most deadly pass rushing team in the AFC.

Hardy is from Millington Tennessee and then played ball in Memphis (HS) and Ole Miss. There is no "hometown discount" for the Panthers. I have a hard time believing the Panthers won't try to find a way to resign him but he is a 1st round talent (fell due to injury and motivation in college. .motivation sound like Clowney?) That is being paid 6th-7th round money. We have the money and Hardy fits the bill of a young player to build around. I only hope Caldwell pulls the trigger. Plus there is no state income tax, so even more mula for Hardy

Unrealistic, but cool scenario. Hardy is coming off an allpro year. Some other GM will give him a near record breaking deal.

I think Micheal Bennett could be a target. SEA has some really expensive deals coming up for Wilson, Sherman and Thomas. They have a plenty of other pass rushers so I think they might let him walk.

He originally offered a "hometown" discount. He then stated that 10 million off of 110 million is still a discount. He also said he doesn't want anything outrageous, but he wants the number that he worked for. One of the sites I saw earlier projected him as getting 5 years, 50 million, but it was posted before his 4 sack game.

I'd take it.

and then trade a 3rd for Mallett.

Well on our way to winning.

If Bridgewater is gone, Sammy Watkins/Manziel is my pick.

Why do you have such a hard on for Mallet?

Watkins in the first, Boyd in the second would be an interesting scenario.

After Bridgewater, Manziel and Bortles of which all will be gone by pick 15, (thus we would miss out in this scenario), Mallett is the only remaining option left from this offseason's options that I believe can be a franchise level QB.

Why do you think that tho?

Didn't get to see a lot of Murray, but he'll be there too correct? Would be a good guy to get late if you can't snag a guy like Teddy. Could draft Clowney at 3 if that's the case.

Depends on how highly you think of Murray. I'd prefer Boyd over him. There are a few interesting guys that should be available in round 2. Derek Carr being one of them.

I forgot about Carr. I'd rather take a guy like Boyd, Murray, or Carr knowing their a project and you got them in the 2nd round + than take Bortles because he's this year's version of Blaine Gabbert and start him day 1 because you drafted him in the 1st.

Boyd will take a few years (if ever) to develope into a NFL QB. Id dont like Mettenberger but id take him over Boyd

Did you see him play this preseason ? At all ? He still have a terrible footwork and lazy mechanics.

LOL! The jags wouldn't need to offer anything near a third.

Belichick would have him on the first bus out of new england for a conditional 7th.

You really must not have watched Mallett these last couple preseasons. He has made literally zero progress in his development, and honestly he looks like he has regressed. It's time to let that ship sail bud, it's over.

Quote:We went 4-4 down the stretch with Henne, didn't we? Add better field position by having a better defense among all of the other reasons I listed a few posts up and we could do better. Manziel in college threw an interception just about every game and the past two seasons he was supported by offensive tackles who will both be top 10 picks and a 6'6 receiver in Evans that nobody could cover. Do you think his small frame and running style, while also being a gunslinger is going to win us more games next year?

So because we went 4-4 after going 0-8 we don't need a QB? Field position would help, but it wouldn't erase the 3 and out siestas we took every game. We need a real QB. If I have to watch Henne or Gabbert any more I will vomit. We have seen enough. Not that I am in love with any of these QBs, but to argue Manziel's INTs is weak sauce. Henne who sucked gloriously threw one more pick than he threw TDs. Manziel also blew up the record books while throwing INTs. Go look at Favre's first few years in the league. We need to draft a QB this year, next year and every year until we find one who won't resemble what we have had. Set the bar higher than Henne and 4-12.
Only a chump boos the home team!

Why trade a valuable 3rd for Mallett when you can get Dan Lefevour from the Hamilton Tiger-Cats for a ham sandwich? JK...

Per an ESPN draft discussion this past week surrounding QBs available for teams to consider...Rumor is that New England has fielded many calls over the past year to trade Mallett, without interest; the thought now in New England is Brady is going to be 37 next season, and having a young quality backup is worth for them to retain...unless someone were to offer them a compelling blockbuster deal. It did not sound, based on this conversation, that they would let him go for a 3rd.
