In fact Alabama had one loss last year. However, the Buckeyes were ineligible, leaving only one undefeated team in the BCS rankings. I always believed OSU would have played in the NCG if they did not get smacked with a one-year bowl ban.

 

The Gators had one loss in 2006. So why did they play against the Buckeyes? Because only Ohio State was undefeated that year.

 

LSU could get in with two losses because 2007 was a weird season full of crazy upsets. It was the year when being #2 was a curse - every second-ranked team lost. There were no undefeated teams.

You are forgetting the NCG has two teams. Therefore if one team is undefeated and another has one loss, there will be a one-loss team in the NCG. Also, they can only have one SEC team in it (LSU vs. Alabama was not what the BCS wanted). There is no reason Ohio State can't be ranked #2 and play against the SEC champion.

1 loss should never play in the NCG if there are unbeatens ranked above them, no matter who they just beat (assuming Auburn does win the Iron Bowl).


I fully expect it to be FSU v tOSU (assuming Bama faulters and tOSU beats the Spartans)

 

Strength of schedule should matter.  A LOT.   It isn't fair for teams to play a cupcake schedule just so they can stay unbeaten.

Honestly, I think everyone will be tired of listening to Ohio State whine and just throw them to the wolves against FSU. this is coming from someone In the heart of SEC country but FSU is unstoppable this year. I'd put my money on them over Bama. (Unless Jameis is charged)

Oh yes they were. The Buckeyes should have gone to the NCG undefeated because a bad call during the first minute (fumble was ruled down by contact and not reviewed) cost them the game.

Auburn with an early lead.  Crazy to think they were a Michigan 2 point conversion away from playing for a chance to be in the national title game. Still think OSU could lose next week to Michigan St.  If so, the SEC title game will be a defacto semi-final game as long as Mizzou is in it.
