Playing anyone else would be an admission by the FO that they royally screwed the pooch by not adding anyone there this offseason.

Just listening to Marrone on a daily basis, I get the impression he couldn't care less what his actions might mean in terms of the front office screwing the pooch or whatever. That's not his concern. His concern is making sure the best players play. I'm loving Marrone.  ...or at least Marrone's attitude and demeanor, although I am concerned as to why so many players are failing to actually perform.

What does everyone think about nickel CB? Colvin is fresh off PUP, and has yet to play a game. Patmon has been a camp star, and looked good in the preseason games. I am thinking Patmon is the nickel guy week 1.

Good question. Especially good since Colvin probably leaves as an UFA after this season.

I'm liking that new, tall CB, Jean-Baptiste, as well. Guys who are big and fast tend to stand out to me. He's been playing well for two straight weeks as a 4th-year vet, and at 6-3, 215, you could also plug him in at S.

That said, he may not be an ideal fit for the nickel spot in particular. Teams often go with a smaller nickel back where the 5-10, 188 lb Patmon makes sense.
