Do you regret Blackmon? If you do. Prior to him when was last time a player produced excitement? I do not regret Blackmon here. Even for the short time.

I don't "regret" Blackmon being drafted. He was a beast on the field. I regret that we didn't have a staff in place that could recognize and try to help his self destructive behavior.


The Blackmon story is sad more than it is regretful.

He won't at least Initially be used the same as like MOJO was.  Grant will have a much larger role.  He earned it over 100 yards first game starting. Plus Ivory. I think Yeldon will be used as a receiving threat. 

 

I personally hope to see Ivory cut before the season. He fumbled 5 times in 117 rushing attempts, which is absolutely pitiful. For anyone blaming Bortles for the team being so terrible last season, Ivory's complete inability to hold on to the ball at crucial points of the game was at least as tough on the team as Blake's interceptions were. Plus he's getting pretty old and has a massive salary.

That has zero to due with when had more rushing offense as a whole out of 12 wins Blake has. That margin equals a whopping 4.

I remember watching him play against Auburn the year we drafted Yeldon and thought "man, drafting a RB in Rd 2 all but guarantees we won't be drafting someone like Fournette when he comes out"

Blackmon is easily one of the top 5 if not top 3 most regrettable Jaguars picks ever (Gabbert and Harvey are definitely top 2) and drafting players like him sets the franchise back.  It doesn't get much more regrettable.

Respect the game.  Play with a sense of urgency. 


1.)  Take care of the ball.  Win the turnover battle.

2.)  It's all about 3rd down.  Win on 3rd down to win the game.

3.) Playmakers make plays.  The only reason that you put your uniform on is to make plays. In order to EARN your paycheck, you must make plays.

I agree, I know AP is the most recent hall of fame worthy RB and therefore will be the guy anyone coming out will be compared to if they're thought of very highly, but I've always thought of Herschel Walker, as well. Great size, great athleticism, was dominant in college. He only had a decent NFL career, but the USFL start hurts his NFL career stats, and his number of carries hurts him, too. He only carried 250 or more times in a season 3 times.

 

Hopefully Fournette has a much better career.

They surely like Grant as their gunner opposite Myrick, and he would still be useful all over STs. As a RB, he'll get a snap here and there where he can be very dangerous. You don't part with good players that have world class speed like Grant and Myrick.


 

As RB, I see no need for an odd man our per say. They're surely keeping four plus a FB, so you have Fournette, Ivory, Yeldon and Grant with a battle at FB between Tommy Bohanon, Marquez Williams and UDFA Kyle MacMeekin. Listening to Marrone talk, these guys are competing for one spot, and their contributions on special teams will go a long ways toward determining that spot.

You mentioned this in another thread.   I'm curious where you are getting this notion?  I don't recall them ever using him at gunner before and it's not just a position that's about speed.  You have to beat a block and then go hit somebody.  I'm no expert on Corey Grant's history or every facet of his skill set, but I don't know if he's really that type of player.  Benn seems more suited to the role. I'm not saying you are wrong, I'm just curious how you arrived at that statement.

I'm merely basing it on the thought that teams often want their two fastest guys at the gunner spots. I've seen Corey make ST tackles as well. He had 5 or 6 ST tackles last year.
