Tate was a much better college player than Samuel was.  He won the Biletnikoff Award and he wasnt the biggest or fastest guy but was a great route runner with sticky hands

But he didn't have that extra gear like Samuel has to just blow right by defenders. I don't think they are the same type of receivers. I've always seen Tate as a possession type of receiver that makes tough catches over the middle via precise route running and Samuel is more of a big play, seep threat via his speed and shiftiness. They're just very different receivers IMO. The same way I believe Tate and T.Y. Hilton (my comparison to Samuel) are very different receivers. They utilize different skill sets.

Watch more Golden Tate college clips. He was rarely not wide open whether it be deep , intermediate or short. Separation was his best trait.  Very shifty too.

I'd actually agree with you that it wasn't a great comparison but for the opposite reason. Samuel isn't as good at route running as that and not as polished.  I think the Senior Bowl has led to people overrating his skills in that regard
