Yep. That 10 paragraph post was about 100 yard games and that’s it.

I’m currently working on all the other 31 teams and their TE production since 1995. I’m pretty sure we’re ranked dead last, but I am wanting to know how bad it really is.

I’m looking at yards, TDs, and receptions. But I’m also trying to look at their best WR and RB for that year.

Stay tuned

If college football is totally cancelled, I believe he would declare for the 2021 draft. Kyle Pitts is another option, but he is not a complete player like Freiermuth. While the Jaguars will likely have two top 15 picks in this draft, they could probably get him with their 2nd first rounder. He and a healthy Oliver could give the Jaguars the best tight end situation in the league- a nice change from their previous history at this position.

Going to be interesting to see how this works out.

I loved Brady and Mitchell. IIRC Kyle Brady was a great blocking TE and Pete Mitch (my nickname for him) was great at receptions. Man those were the days.

That YAC catch he had up in Buffalo in 1996, our first ever playoff game, was legendary. Mitchell’s was an average size TE but he wasn’t the fastest or the strongest but he would catch the ball clean. Man he went into Jeremy Shockey mode. I remember he caught that pass from Brunell and he rumbled and bumbled for a huge gain. The defenders couldn’t bring him down, it was like they were bouncing off of him.

Hard to believe he only scored 11 TDs. I also remember he left Jax and went to NYG and then came back to finish his career in Jax.

After Oliver left I thought they would go for Friermuth. While I like the blocking aspect that Farrell brings to the table, our TEs definitely ain’t scaring anybody. Heck even when we had Lewis our TE group was still bottom of the league in production outside of 2007.

For as much as everyone is killing the TE room, the biggest issue for the Jags recently has been health, good QB play, and scheme that integrates run and pass plays.

We don't need all pro TE play (though I'm not say no to it). We just need something closer to league average, and the current TE depth in the league is really poor. Anyone who has to find TE's in fantasy knows this.

If the gods finally keep the TE room healthy, T-Law shows up, and the coaches don't completely screw up, this team can do that much with O'SH, Ferrell, Man, and whoever may get cut from other teams camps.

Zach Miller was a great TE - for the Chicago Bears.  Feel terrible for his poor luck with injuries.

I loved what I saw out of O'shaughnessy last year prior to injury, and I think a healthy Oliver and Eifert will be great complements.  Despite us never having a world-class TE, I'm pretty stoked about this year's possibilities, including our late round picks and UDFA.  Interested to see who makes the cut.

I agree 100 percent. Marcedes Lewis was a great blocking TE but man he dropped some passes early on in his career that I never forgave him for. Especially the wide open in the back of the endzone.

But Pete Mitchell was by far the best receiving TE we’ve ever had. That catch he had in our first playoff game up in Buffalo was amazing.

I was gonna say this as well but everyone beat me to it.  His numbers would have been so much better but not enough balls to go around with Jimmy and Keenan there.

I was about to say it's crazy to think our career leader in receiving yards for a TE is Marcedes Lewis and that he wasnt even a good receiving TE.  He has about 4500 total receiving yards for us.  But when you go pull up the total receiving yardage for the Jags, the top WR in career yardage, not named Jimmy and Keenan, has only 2800 yards.  It's all sorts of sad.

Dallas Clark was just as bad:

Totals: 15 Games, 92 Targets, 59 Receptions, 676 Yards, NINE TDs and an 11.46 YPC average.

Antonio Gates also owned us:

Totals: 10 Games, 59 Targets, 41 Receptions, 414 Yards, EIGHT TDs, and a 10.10 YPC average

This team flat out cannot stop good/elite TEs

You'd think the Jaguars would realize how valuable a good receiving tight end can be since they've been victims of this. I still have hopes that they trade for or pick up one of the available ones currently on the market. That is what gets me about the Tebow talk. The jaguars can't expect him to become a receiving target after never having played the position. Evan Engram, Hayden Hurst, David Njoku and Trey Burton are all possibilities. They have the salary cap money and any of these players would help the Jaguars significantly more than Tebow. If Meyer wanted to show his gratitude towards Tebow, he could have made him an assistant coach. He is certainly familiar with Meyer's approach to coaching.
