Quote:bortles isn't a concern.

He 100% is, until he becomes a professional QB. Blake Bortles is merely talented with gifts, moxy, and incredibly fearless 50/50 wideouts at this stage in his career. He hasn't shown franchise yet. Unless you are new JVille, i.e. not au fait with winning football. Or, predisposed to giving free passes to certain types.

Byron Leftwich and David Garrard won more with less functional pieces and were shown the door. Bortles absolutely better transform into a QB to reckon with, otherwise we'll be Jay Cutler part IV++. A thin line. Bortles, to me, knows this. Thank God. He is a hard worker with an open mind.

I expect profound, noteworthy, empirical growth and AWARENESS from him.

And I don't mean stats, or league contending TD totals that add to 5. Unless that's your thing.

Oh, I get the historically bad D, 'no' linemen on field, 'no' RBs etc. We need to see a QB that shows us the game.

It's a joy to see. He hasn't shown that as yet, as expected in 2 years, but his growth from year 1 to 2 leaves marked promise. I am excited to see more. He is potentially the best thing we've had in Jacksonville, in my view. I just pray for true growth. I wish the cheerleaders can construe him objectively.

Caricaturing the fake Jag fan trolls? Or are you really that out of touch?

To be honest, the biggest impact on accuracy is accuracy.

Daunte Culpepper threw a wobbly pass and had a great career until he was injured.

Hmm, big, strong, mobile QB from UCF who throws a wobbly pass.

Culpepper's issue was his notoriously small hands.

With Bortles, I think it's that he throws a lot of different "pitches."

He relies on his arm and doesn't always get his feet and body in the proper position.

That's fine, as long as he's completing the passes.  It's also why he's still got a lot of upside.

A lot of things affect the release point necessary for a tight spiral, so when you make throws in less than ideal situations, it happens to all QBs.

Interesting. I recall back in the day doing a study about who threw the most 40+ yard passes, and Culpepper at the time was far and away the best with 18 in 2004. Compare that to Bortles who had 11 this past season.

The NFL players who actually play in the league and voted him the 56th best player don't think his "wobbly" passes are a problem so they must not be.
