Dwight Freeney- the Jaguars should take a look

#21

I'd take him. Even at 36. I'd cut a young guy for 8 sacks.

Our leading sack guy was Odrick with 5.5

Its tempting, but honestly I think the sack number last year was a combo of injuries and low tier guys getting way more snaps than they deserved. This year we have so much young talent/depth along with 2 stud DTs in Malik and Marks inside we should be back up to 2014 numbers and then some.

Agreed.

I would still sign him.

I'd consider him if Fowler or Yannick went down.

Montana and Young. QB I feel is the only position where a good vet/mentor is the most important

I don't want horseshoe scum stealing reps from our young lions.

Also the list of effective pass rushers past age 35 in NFL history can be counted on your fingers.

He had 8 sacks last year. Our top guy had 5.5

Everyone of you would take that.

Not at the expense of Fowler and Ngakoue's development.

So Fowler or Yannick? Which one are you cutting for him?

I'd cut one of the backup LBs... if I had too.

^^^This.

Flsprtsgod, I wouldn't cut neither but I understand what you are pointing out. I just wouldn't have a 3rd QB or a 4th RB, etc.

So whose playing time gets diminished? Which younger player's development gets suppressed to let Dwight Freeney get in the field?
I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

Nobody has to have their playing time cut. Just use him as needed. Especially if we are going to make a playoff push.

It don't matter, it's a moot point.

If I had to guess. Ryan Davis, and Yannick play time would be affected the most

Davis doesn't even theoretically have playing time at LEO anymore.  They are trying to make him an OTTO since the only position he was effective rushing from was DT and that spot is now basically as deep as WR.

I don't have a dog in this fight and relying on rookies is a crapshoot, but I really don't really see this regime bringing in anyone well over 30 years old after the Bryant/Clemons patch job and it's short lived semi-effectiveness.

I feel pretty optimistic about a Fowler/Ngakoue tandem at LEO, especially when they ought to benefit from Jackson and Marks' interior pressure and a shored up secondary buying time.

The more I think about it the more I'd like to bring him in.

A)The clots will hate it B)I think he could help us with a few key plays down the stretch C)Can only be a positive move in my books.

The guy would give us a lot of experience and leadership for the entire unit. He was invaluable for the Cardinals down the stretch being used sparingly. In other words he didn't play like he was washed up or whatever. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pd8baDTKwkQ

No pain, no gain.
