Last week, Dave slipped up and said it (the 1st draft pick) might not be a household name. Then he caught himself and quickly stated "or maybe it is. u never know". Had me thinking of, uhh.. Dark horses

If somehow all 4 of them are gone then I wouldn't opposed to Lawson. But Buckner and Bosa, especially Buckner, is clearly a cut ahead of him imo.

Buckner is a tackle in a 4-3.

In our system he would play on the outside on run downs and then shift inside on passing downs. I think Buckner will be a special interior pass rusher who will also be able to get it done outside with a bull rush as well. A trio of Buckner and Jackson on the inside with Fowler on the outside would be ungodly.

I would try to trade down. If you can't trade down I would take BAP not a QB. It could be Buckner. I know we have enough 3T and 5T but I like value so I would take best DE available. But I think if it goes like you said the QBs will be available and I think the Rams will aggressively try to trade up and I would take their 2 second rounder in return and swap 1st. I would 1then take Lawson or Floyd. 

I don't buy the argument we have too many 3T/5T to draft Buckner. None of them are close to the talent he is, even Malik who is our best big end now. Odrick and Marks are not stopping me from drafting Buckner, if I am Dave Caldwell, especially because he is a longer term solution for the position than those guys. 

 

Best edge rusher available in the above scenario is Shaq Lawson. Wouldn't be Buckner in my opinion.

Buckner is not an edge rusher.

 

BAP varies from team to team and how they have their draft boards ordered. Some teams may have Lawson ranked ahead of guys like Buckner.

I highly doubt any team has Lawson ranked above Buckner as pure prospects.

Not enough talent in this draft for Lawson to fall to round 2, imo.

My favorite scenario:

 

Trade back to number 7 for their 2nd rounder (S.F. desperate for q.b. and afraid someone else may trade up ahead of them for Wentz or Goff).

 

Round 1: Myles Jack

Round 2: Ogbah and Alexander

 

Sure, it's possible all 3 of these guys won't be available, but I have a hunch at least 2 will be. Despite his unusual athleticism, there is still concern about Jack's injury as well as the fact linebackers are not usually as coveted as many other positions. Alexander has turned some people off with his cockiness and may have been passed by Apple and Jackson. He is my favorite corner in the draft.

It's a safe bet the Browns take a QB unless they trade for or sign a vet.

Would only do if Ramsey . Jack and Bosa are all gone + No one wants to move up for a QB.


Might even take VH3 and hope someones falls to the second or is worth a trade back into the first.


Too much value if San Fran or another qb hungry team wants whoever the browns don't get.

Alexander gets drafted from the Bucs to the Steelers, there's no way he makes it to the second round.

I think Shaq Lawson is going to drop in Rd 1, and it would not surprise me if the Jags are looking at him as a potential player they might trade up for late in Rd 1.
