Rumor: Tacks taking Ramsey

#21

Quote:Tacks won't pass on an elite LT to protect their QB and RB investments. Anything else is a smokescreen.

The Titans OL gave up 54 sacks, the absolute worst in the NFL. In addition, they gave up 105 QB hits, ranked the 25th worst in the NFL.

Quote:Sources with multiple teams have said they have given Ramsey a second-round grade. Another team picking early said they have Ramsey in the top 10 of their board. The sources who rate him as a high first-rounder say he is a smart kid and an alpha dog from a team of alpha personalities. They like his strength, physical play, solid ball skills, and how he competes and tracks the ball well, but say he has bad hands. They think he can be special as a corner or free safety.

The teams that have a second-round grade have a similar view of Ramsey. Those general managers and scouts have told me that Ramsey is a press-man corner to play the Seattle Seahawks' style of corner and be a Richard Sherman-type defender. Their teams play off man, zone and press man, and they feel Ramsey struggles to play anything but press man. He is good against a big receiver as he has the size and strength to battle them. However, smaller fast route-runners get separation from him and get vertical against him downfield. As one top scout said, "Ramsey will do well against a big, physical receiver like Brandon Marshall, but T.Y. Hilton would tear him up."

Yeah, because there's no way he could possibly improve as a football player.

What's the highest a DB has been drafted?  I remember Sean Taylor going pretty high but for the most part, you don't see corners or safeties getting drafted in the top 5.

Eric Berry was 5th overall.

Sean Taylor was 5th overall as well.

It is rare.

But when a guy is a really good talent, you get him when you can get him.

If you're picking at 5, and S/DB is a need, and there is a prem-o player at 5, you take him at 5.

If Ramsey is seen the next best DB... why not take him in the top 5.

I still favor drafting Myles Jack over Ramsey. But I won't be mad if we end up with Ramsey at 5.... not at all.

I remember in 1991, DBs went 2-3 overall when the Browns took S Eric Turner out of UCLA, and the Falcons took Bruce Pickens CB out of Nebraska.

Deion went 5th overall in 1989.

I think I'll be mad if we draft Stanley or Buckner.

Your use of the word 'football' is both inaccurate and redundant.

I can't ever see that happening, but I'd laugh if they did that.

I see it going down like this barring trades.

Tunsil - TEN

Goff(or another QB?) - CLE

Ramsey - SD

Bosa/Jack - DAL

Jack/Bosa - JAX

Whoever Dallas does not pick out of those 2 we get. I would prefer Jack, and picking up a rotational LEO in the 2nd possibly.

I would be more scared of the Titans if they drafted Ramsey or Jack than if they drafted Tunsil.

Agree, our pass rush is bad as it is. Would mush rather the Titans mess up on the pick and take Ramsey than possibly getting a book end tackle that protcets their franchis QBs blind side. Our pass rush is weak as it is
