And based on what he's doing right now, and the level of focus he's presenting in the interview, and his commitment to continuing to work on his mechanics and never see himself as fully done, I'd say we've got a half way decent shot at getting half of that accomplished.  The offensive line is something we'll have to wait and see over.

They edited out the question that lead to that response, so we don't know how Curtis framed it, but clearly, this whole notion that Blake was out partying all the time bothered him. He talked about how difficult it was to deal with the chatter among fans questioning his character knowing he wasn't out at the bars drinking, and he wasn't an alcoholic.

I don't disagree with what you're saying. Like I said. He strikes me as a guy who will have like one beer and pay for his friends tab. It's all blown out of proportion.

C'mon dude, we've all been watching decades of sports with players that have mechanics that require effort. It's not that hard to tell when a pitcher is reaching back for a little extra, or a golfer/batter is swinging out of his shoes, or a QB is trying to throw full effort (sad that there isn't a more colorful term for it like the others). There's a difference between playing devil's advocate and just playing dumb.

Well unless you know him, no one can declare anything about him being an alcoholic. That's just stupid. I'm replying to the guy about the pics. There are more than enough pictures out there with him at bars to show he does go out there. Like I said, I really don't care though unless it's hindering his game.  But then again, it's not like we can do anything about it anyway so whatever. 

I have no doubt in my mind that a wealthy young man in the NFL is going out to the local bars and having a few beers.

 

And you don't really have to 'know' someone to be able to tell the signs of alcoholism.

If you're an alcoholic, usually people can tell. I would think that something that serious would have been brought up as more than just rumors. Especially since Bortles' has been in the league long enough.

The truth that he goes out to bars. The poster said there aren't pictures and I said there are. He's been sighted enough that's it felt needed to be asked by the media meaning people have seen him. Never said he was out getting wasted or anything. I've actually seen him out once and he didn't even look like he was drinking at all to me.


What I'm disputing is that all this is made up and he doesn't go out there at all. But like I said, he can live his life however. Let's just win games.

I mean, we can't put an exact percentage on his effort exactly. But for most of the throws, he isn't exactly stepping through. It looks like he's slinging it pretty hard because the ball comes out zooming out of there. You can probably put several NFL QB starters in that same setting, and if they scale back their throw to the same "effort" that Brett did, it wouldn't look like that.

 

IIRC, there was a video of Carr (or was it Palmer?) at the NFL Super Bowl Experience recently throwing. Both retired, but neither one as old as Favre, and the ball just doesn't come out like Brett's. No shame in that, Brett's arm was/is truly elite.

 

Which is why I've always found the Favre comparison of Blake laughable. Mindset? Yes. But talent, not even close. Blake is to Favre as Nick Young is to Kobe.

No. There is confusion here. I'm saying there is truth that he goes out. That's all. Nothing more. The original post I quoted said if Blake goes out then there would be pics or video. See here:

 

 Let me ask you this, if Blake Bortles was really out drinking at bars wouldn't there be pictures or video?  The first thing people do now a days is pull there camera out for a picture, and I haven't seen one picture or video of him out.

 

I said there are both pics/video and obviously other people have seen him out since they asked the question (regardless of how stupid it is or anything else) because it means he's clearly been seen out by other people. This is solely directed to the notion that it's made up or people are seeing him without proof. I feel what I'm saying got completely miscommunicated.

 

And anyone calling him an alcoholic or anything like that is an idiot. That's a pretty heavy thing to be calling someone you don't even know.

I find it entertaining that most of you guys defend a guy you don't know personally.. You don't in fact know if he is or isn't an alcholic..Their are reports since his college days about this.. Probably why Miss Dukes left him!


In fact one football player on the team said "he was a basket case".. There are pictures of him drinking, tweets about him drinking, and numerous other reports of people seeing him drinking at bars and etc..


Sure it's nothing wrong with having a beer, but if it's affecting your performance on the football field, then maybe waiting till the off-season would be the best idea..



And for the people trying to downplay it, as if it's just beers that he drinks, see Bortles "Fireball" tweet to Ramsey after he was drafted last year!
