Remember Derrick Harvey?

#41

Dante Fowler is NOT Derrick Harvey. He played for a stout gator defense, with Vernon Hargreaves, and Dominik Easley, and even Antonio Morrison, and jon Bostic. He has all the tangibles and intangibles you want in a player, played for a defensive minded coach and wasnt overhyped because of a few plays, and a championship. I dont understand the references to Harvey this is a new regime, a new player, and the only thing Fowler has in common with Harvey is they both played a t Florida and have a D  to start their first name. Dante didnt even lay DE in college last year he played the Buck Linebacker.

Other than both being Gators, I don't know what reminds people of Harvey when they talk about Fowler. The two couldn't be any more different.

well .... that makes no sense at all.

Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

I don't think of Harvey.  I think more of Quentin Groves.  Probably a better rush OLB than LEO.

Probably the one who played 17 seasons in the NFL AND won a Super Bowl.

He won't really be remembered though.

I survived the Gus Bradley Error.

Good one. I had to look it up.

He wasn't a dominant college QB, and shared starts at FSU. Drafted in the 9th (!) round.

Quote:The problem with this line of thinking is by the same logic you would not draft Winston because of Chris Weinkie or Andrew Luck because of Trent Edwards. Really the school doesn't matter, only the prospect.

It's not really a logic, just a superstition. Is that how you spell that. Well, let me retract.. The Shane Ray thing is my logic working, just thinking, how good can he really be, having sat behind a guy who didnt even make it his first year in the league. The Fowler thing is more of a feeling, like, not another first round DE from Florida (for The Jags)

Quote:The solution to this is simple: trade away all of our draft picks for current NFL players. That way, we never have to worry about missing on a rookie again! Smile
Hey. You might be on to something. And guess what else... I am very high on Winston, but let him get drafted by The Jags (for argument's sake) and "ya boi" will be all "oh no! not another 1st rnd qb with a long release!"

and when i say ya boi, i mean me Smile

I'm just saying, i feel the op to an extent but my feelings about it are just that. Feelings. Not sensical logic

That's why I didn't mention his name.

I know that many posters will not know who it is and have to look it up.

Like I said, he won't really be remembered even though he did win a Super Bowl as a starting QB in the NFL.

Yep, a QB who was drafted in the 9th rd (pick 227), winning a Super Bowl, imagine that if you can.

He did make 2 Pro bowls.

I think the Jaguars should avoid drafting anyone because they might turn into a bust.  Anyone may look good and may not translate into the NFL.  Frankly, the draft is just terrible business and best avoided.
