Fun fact: Bortles vs. Gabbert

#41

Quote:Bear in mind that he threw three passes that went for touchdowns in one half of football.

Then during the postgame presser, he called the pick six stupid. He already is learning how to cut down on interceptions.

Blake has already proved to have more courage than Gabbert.  On the rollout where the defenders were coming free gabbert would of messed his pants and go into the fetal position.

Bet we will never see the stacked boxes all day long anymore. If only we had a prime MJD

Denard Robinson will be fine when the coaches realize he is our fastest and most athletic running back, Caldwell picks a fullback in the draft, and we have continuity on the offensive line.

I really think many factors were causing our inability to run the ball for two and a half games, one being Chad Henne. Give Blake Bortles some time and holes will open up for Toby and Denard.

Gabbert is a special kind of bad. He is one of the worst busts of all time. It really is remarkable looking back at how truly horrid he was.

DRob also has bad hands and suspect blocking skills which means he's not much use on passing downs...

To be expected of a former quarterback, I think. But when you have to run, you want the fastest running back on the field, and Toby is not that guy.

Blake took over the game yesterday like Gabbert never did.

Yep. Looking at his stats (while they are terrible), they don't even tell the story. He was literally one of the worst, most useless players I have ever had to watch on any team.

Oh, absolutely. I'm not criticising him for throwing interceptions. It's an inevitability, and it's no sign of a poor QB. Brett Favre's first pass in the NFL was a pick six. (His first completion, as everyone knows, was a -7 yard completion to a somewhat unexpected receiver...). Bortles is in good company. Smile

I'd have taken more interceptions from Henne earlier in the season if they'd come with some extended drives...

Quote:Agreed, you either can play QB or you cant sitting on the bench doesnt do a QB any good... but not having a horrible Oline and no receivers will not help Bortles stats or his health...

the Jaguars front office needs to think of a way to protect him fast..
I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that acquiring higher quality offensive linemen will be priority #1 when draft time comes around again. As a matter of fact, I can't think of anything else that will even begin to approach the importance of getting good offensive line personnel this draft and F/A.... with a good (at least a decent) o-line, the whole face of Jaguar football will change for the better!

I y'ams who I y'ams and thats all I y'ams...

Talking about it in a press conference is not "learning"

No, it's not. Now he needs to spend some time in the film room with Fisch on what he did wrong and he needs to make sure that it sinks in to the point where making that read properly and making the right throw is instantaneous.

You do not necessarily want the fastest RB.
