Quote:I should note "regular fuel" in Europe has an octane rating of 95. You can't get 87 or 91 here. A Ferrari will run fine on 95. ohhh ok lol now we're on the same page. I'm sitting here scratching my head! We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

Quote:well your from CA so............. I'm not really picking up what you're putting down there, but I'll say that I think in general you East Coasters have a misperception that all of CA is like LA or SF. I guess because that's where most people visit or where most of our media and legislative presence is? I promise you the Central Valley doesn't exactly align ideologically with our neighbors the the north and south. Quote:I'm just joking man, I've never been west of Tallahassee so I don't have the first clue what anything out west is like. Oh I know, I wasn't necessarily directing all that at you, it's a popular misperception everywhere! We aren't all the same, it's a big [BLEEP] state! I'm a farmer for Pete's sake, it doesn't get more red neck than that. Quote:Oh I know, I wasn't necessarily directing all that at you, it's a popular misperception everywhere! We aren't all the same, it's a big [BAD WORD REMOVED] state! Nice! I've heard the northern part of the state is really rural. We get it here in Florida to, people think everyone lives on the beach. I'm over an hour from the beach, I'm in the farmlands next to the river.
We all live on the beach, party with Paris Hilton, and are a block or two from Disneyworld haha.
Northern Ca and Central Ca are both really rural. In my view, we are much more like Arizona (but less extreme) or Nevada than the SF or LA regions. In the Central Valley, we have the top 4 counties in the U.S. in terms of agricultural sales, so I'm not sure it gets more rural than that! We just happen to be sandwiched between two Megalopolis'. Quote:We all live on the beach, party with Paris Hilton, and are a block or two from Disneyworld haha. Taxes have to kill you out there, is the climate favorable to farming? Yep, lived in the central valley for 8 years. It's a world apart from the rest of CA.
I attended my brother's wedding in SF the same year Clinton was running for office the first time. The Bay Area locals were shocked when I told them how different the political support was in the valley. They just assumed everyone in CA voted Democrat. The misperceptions about California exist within the state itself.
Quote:Taxes have to kill you out there, is the climate favorable to farming? There are maybe two other regions in the world that have a comparably favorable climate. Turkey and maybe Iran. Possibly Chile but they can't grow all the nut crops like we can here. Turkey and Chile are the main competition for my crop. Taxes are something I've always lived with so I don't even notice it I guess. |
